John Edwards08 Blog: This Catholic Masquerade…
As I posted in John Edwards Can’t Stand Up To Hard Left Blogs, What Makes Us Think He Can Stand Up To The Terrorists?, Edwards agreed to keep on his staff, some bloggers that are known for Christian bashing, Catholics in particular. I was shocked, shocked I tell you, when I saw This Catholic Masquerade… on John Edwards blog! Keep in mind Edwards words:
The tone and the sentiment of some of Amanda Marcotte’s and Melissa McEwan’s posts personally offended me. It’s not how I talk to people, and it’s not how I expect the people who work for me to talk to people. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that kind of intolerant language will not be permitted from anyone on my campaign, whether it’s intended as satire, humor, or anything else.
And here is what you will see today at the Edwards08Â Blog:
This Catholic Masquerade…
I went to 16 years of Catholic school and am married in the Catholic Church.
As far as I’m concerned, the “Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights” is none-of-the-above.
The only “rights” they have any interest in are their own…the ones they would like to impose on others like the Gay Community, the Jewish Community, etc…
“Media Matters” did an article on William Donohoe, the leader of the organization back in 2004. Â They provided a number of quotes, including this one:
We’ve already won. Who really cares what Hollywood thinks? All these hacks come out there. Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular. It’s not a secret, okay? And I’m not afraid to say it. … Hollywood likes anal sex. They like to see the public square without nativity scenes. I like families. I like children. They like abortions. I believe in traditional values and restraint. They believe in libertinism. We have nothing in common. But you know what? The culture war has been ongoing for a long time. Their side has lost.
MSNBC, Scarborough Country, Dec 8, 2004
While Mr. Donohoe may be “Catholic” in the most technical of terms, his rantings rarely have anything to do with the beliefs of main-stream Catholics…and much more to do with the right-wing extremists. Â
These, of course, are the same extremists that want Mr. Edwards campaign to end before it’s barely started and they’ll go to any lengths to do so. Â What else can you expect when the board contains such notable “Catholics” as Alan Keyes?
As stated in “Americablog” today by John Aravosis, the AP never should have put out such a story with a wing-nut like Mr. Donohoe as the only source and the New York Times should have checked before they printed it as well.
Also, if you want to have respected, experienced and passionate bloggers working for your campaign, it will be impossible to find ANYONE who has not posted something unpalatable to your enemies. Â
The bloggers you chose will serve you well. Â Don’t give those people a “win” by letting them go nor even the time of day by acknowledging their accusations. Â They are counting on their vehemence to disrupt the flow of your organization.
They are the ravings of drowning men.
Sure the bloggers will serve you well if your goal is defeat! And let’s look at the choice of the word enemies? And this person has the nerve to call another an extremist?
I had to add this comment from one of Edwards readers:
After having read your blog again and your description of Mr Donohue as technically Catholic I find it hilariously ironic that the two things you use to characterize your own Catholicism are two of the most technical definitions of belonging to the Catholic church I believe I have ever heard. School and married in a church, the hallmarks of a true catholic.

In this weekend update, I talk double standards on Obama, the importance of ending judicial activism, another flip flop from Mitt Romney, and why government thinks it needs to save us from ourselves.

The Pitiful Left’s Media Attacks
Yesterday I had the “pleasure” of reading “The Pitiful State Of Our Media” – a loony leftist attack on “right-wing media bias” by Pacific Views.org. The article accuses the MSM of collaboration with the Bush administration!

Detroit Free Press Columnist Proposes Overturning Election, Overthrow Of Government

Arabic Music
