"At the time, 1996, [bin Laden] had committed no crime against America, so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him, though we knew he wanted to commit crimes against America" he said. Looking back, I don't think Clinton had the basis, much less the backing at that time to sign into law something similar to the U.S. Patriot Act or a Minority Report(20th Century Fox). Had he known then what he would later find(evidence linking OSB to crimes), perhaps we'd be living in an OSB-Free world today. Or worse yet, a world where our constitutional rights would be taken from us. It's impossible to deny, Clinton was obsessed with combating terrorism. In this post-9/11 America, we realize the need for this obsession (as well as discretion). My only hope for the '08 election, that both parties bring someone to the table with that same drive. Unfortunately, Corruption and Politics is synonymous.
