ALERT: NYT’s To Run Obama Stock Shocker! Ethics Violation?

By: Pam On: Mar/6/07 - 22 Comments

From the Drudge Report, And here is the NYT link:

Less than two months after ascending to the U.S. Senate, Barack Obama bought more than $50,000 worth of stock in two speculative companies whose major investors included some of his biggest political donors, the NYT will splash on Wednesday Page Ones. The paper claims, according to newsroom sources: One of the companies was a biotech concern that was starting to develop a drug to treat avian flu. In March 2005, two weeks after buying about $5,000 of its shares, Obama took the lead in a legislative push for more federal spending to battle the disease. The paper’s Mike McIntire and Chris Drew get front placement [side by side with Libby Coverage] for details of Obama’s most recent financial disclosure:It shows that he bought more than $50,000 in stock in a satellite communications business whose principal backers include four friends and donors who had raised more than $150,000 for his political committees.A spokesman for Obama says the senator did not know that he had invested in either company. He didn’t know he bought it? Wow!  This isn’t the first ethically challenged problem that Obama has gotten himself into: Obama Says He Regrets Land Deal With Fundraiser. Senator Bought a Parcel From His Neighbor, a Now-Indicted Political Operative.

It kind of looks like there is a pattern of bad behavior!

Hah! It looks as though the KKKlinton smear machine is on the job. Well before the primary we’ll even know if Obama ever failed to return a library book.

This is ridiculous. Most people leave the investing of their money to a money manager and do not know exactly what the investments are at any given time, especially with trusts. Once Obama realized a possible conflict he sold the stocks with a $13,000 loss. That was in 2005 long before he ever thought that he would be running for president so it can’t be said that he only did that to make himself look good. Obama is the real deal and there are many people going to great lengths to discredit him. It won’t work. We are all working to make sure that he is the next president of this country so the right may as well get used to it.

Just like Hillary Clinton’s Cattle Futures Trading. As long as Red Bone was doing the illegal stuff for her and channeling the profits to her, everything seemed jake. We know that Bone took the fall for greasing Hillary’s and Bill’s pockets back when Bill was a mediocre Arkansas Attorney General.

SO what is really different than a Democrat being corrupt, be it Obama, the Clintons, Harry Reid, Rep. William Jefferson, Murtha, …?

2- Donn, what are the chances of his blind trust investing in two speculative companies whose major investors included some of his biggest political donors? I’d say very slim! And then Obama just knows to go push legislation? Right. His running for the office of POTUS is not the issue, you do realize that he is a sitting senator, don’t you?

As I said, there is a pattern here.
