The Democrats, the media, all of them . “Fuck you and the horse you rode in on” should be the operating premise of the administration from this point on, and Bush should begin engaging in the most ruthless of political tit-for-tats, ordering his inferiors to not spend a dime of money for earmarked projects in Democratic districts, etc.
It’s called politics, assholes. But apparently it’s now criminal for a politician to engage in politics, at least if he’s from the wrong party.

I wonder how fast the congressional investigations come to a grinding halt when the FBI and US Attornies start cranking out the Grand Juries over all of the corruption in the Democratic party. They have William “cold Cash” Jefferson on tape accepting a bribe from a confidential informant, and found the money in his freezer. Sounds like pretty convincing evidence for at least an indictment and probably a conviction. Muertha is known for his influence peddling. It shouldn’t take much to get the goods on him. I’m certain there are a few senators with skeletons in their closets. Teddy Kennedy for one. There was never an autopsy done on Mary Jo Kopechne. His cronies got her body on a plane out of the state before one could be done. Wonder what that covered up? Doesn’t sound like the pathetic leaving the scene of an accident he was charged with. It’s time for the Republicans to show the Democrats that they aren’t the only ones who can instigate investigations. BTW don’t leave out some of the Rinos either. I’m sure that Specter has some thigns he doesn’t want known.

1 -Politics is a dirty business. Sure, you will find skeletons in Democrats’ closets. However… if you open up that can of worms you open it on both sides of the aisle. As far as Jefferson is concerned. He is still sitting in the House. He has been under investigation for over a year now, and the ‘Republican appointed’ prosecutor has yet gathered enough evidence to form a Grand Jury. Remember… be careful for what you wish for. You just may get more than you bargained for.

As to the original post. Ace seems to have anger issues. Our country will NEVER go anywhere if this US vs. THEM frame of mind isn’t corrected. Imagine what could happen if both sides of the aisle actually worked together, worked comprimises, etc. People need to understand that they are most responsible for the Representatives in the district where they live. If you like your Reps… vot for them again. If you do not, don’t. To attack a Rep from the other side of the country is pointless. They are most likely representing the people of their OWN district. Which is probably why you don’t live in that part of the country. That is the nature of the Representative Democracy. Total domination of the House, Senate, and Executive branch (not to mention the courts)is what the Republicans have had. They had their chance to make real changes, they had the opportunity to make the United States a better place. They DID NOT. You can fool yourselves all you want and blame the Liberals… Blame the so-called Liberal Media. But the fact is, that the Republicans were so self-involved in keeping majorities and total domination that the rest of the country called their bluff last November. The Democrat Sweep in the November election was not a referendum of the Bush Administration as some claim. (Sure, he may have been a part of it) It was real, everyday citizens who were fed up with the cocky arrogance that Republican leaders like DeLay and friends. It really wasn’t the dominance of one party over the other on issues like security or morality. It was that people, real people were fed up with the fact that NOTHING was getting done. The Republicans were only in office to serve themselves, not to represent real people. So Ace, put your anger back in your pants. Chill-out and take an interest in the betterment of our country first. Worry about the betterment of party second. I am a very loyal Democrat, and I would drop my affiliation with my party in a heart-beat if I believed that it was the best thing for the country. Afterall that is what matters most.
You can hate Democrats all you want. But you can not tell me that Pelosi and the Dems have not done anything. They set an agenda to repair some of the damage left by Republican neglect, the accomplished their goals, and they are listening to the people in their districts, not party leaders. For instance, the majority of the people want our troops out of the war. Our Representatives represent US, the people. They are only doing their jobs and taking their cues from their constituents. Perhaps if the Republicans had listened to their constituents… they would still be in power.

#3 Why don’t you work from within to get the Democrites to stop their endless attacks, endless undermining, endless manipulation in turning non-issues like the firing of 8 US Attorneys into pseudo-scandals?
Do you think for one minute that if Bush just keeps taking it, and the Republicans just lay down and act like political pacifists, this will stop and everyone will get together?
The Democrites are going to practice their extreme political methods as long as they succeed. And the Dems are now emboldened by their recent victory, and so are more partisan, more aggressive, even more extreme.
The answer is not to give in to the Dems (which is what their definition of getting along and bipartisanship is). It is for America to turn their back on the Democrites, let the party collapse under the weight of the wacked out extremist rainbow degenerate freak components that have taken control. Maybe out of the ashes something more like the party of John Kennedy will emerge. If not it deserves to go into the dustbin or history.
Let a more deserving party (or parties) emerge.

TT what are you talking about? Take responsibility? The US Attorney job is a political appt, completely subject to the management of the Executive. Bush doesn’t have to give a reason, doesn’t have to answer to Congress. The first response to the Democrite initiative to turn this non-event into a pseudo scandal should have been “GFY”. I don’t believe Congress has the Constitutional authority to press this issue and subpoena White House staffers. Every Congressperson that supports it should immediately resign for violating their swirn oath to protect and defend the Constitution.

11, AKD, Boy are you stupid. Bubba, as President, is the top law enforcement officer. Lying to a Federal Judge and Obstructing Justice are not things you want THE top law enforcement officer doing. Bubba should have been removed from office on those grounds.
As for Bush lying to get us into war, you have that wrong, and that lie has been debunked over and over again. It is you kool-aid drinkers who are trying to lie us into a defeat when the victory is in reach.

I would welcome that. Personally, I am for independant over sight of Congressional ethics. Except for the slightest trafic tickets, Congress members should be expelled for criminal convictions and suspend for indictments. 99% of them would be gone.

Democratic Edge, You are absolutely correct. The Democrats must return us to the economic utopia of the Carter Era with the double digit inflation, double digit unemployment, double digit interest rates, and skyrocketing deficits. We must once again allow Congress to dictate foreign policy and military stategies, no matter what the Constitution may say. We must strip our military of its ability to protect this country and turn that responsibility over to the UN who will get their strategic planning from the French. We must destroy the economy in order to try and prevent a natural cyclical occurrence from occurring. And to do it we must funnel billions of dollars into the pockets of corrupt third world government officials. We mustn’t put poor misunderstood criminals in jail, we must disarm the law abiding public to insure that thieves, rapists, and murderers have a safe work environment. We must also not strenuously interrogate terrorists, nor hold them until they are no longer dangerous. No matter what international law proscribes for their treatment.
Now don’t all of those arguments sound @#$%^&* ridiculous?
Let me show you what you’ve been voting for and perhaps you’ll see the light.
Increased minimum wages result in increased business cost for unskilled labor resulting in the unskilled labor being fired for not producing enough value to offset their cost. You would’n pay $25 for a $5 item would you? Neither will businesses.
Hence increased unemployment AND higher inflation.
As more businesses fail and people become unable to pay their bills, lending will become more risky hence higher interest rates.
Seeing as Democrats haven’t seen a government handout program that they didn’t like, despite fewer people being able to pay into the tax coffers, they will spend even more like a bunch of drunken sailors. Therefore an ever increasing deficit.
When haven’t the Democrats tried to allow the UN to dictate our foreign policy? We went into Vietnam to try and save France’s ass because Vietnam had been a french colony.
The Democrats are trying to force a retreat (a withdrawing troops while in contact with the enemy is a retreat, NOT a redeployment. Moving the 4th ID to Ft Hood from Ft Carson was a redeployment.) and lose the war just like they did in 1975 from Vietnam. You’re probably too young to remember watching US Marines having to kick friendly Vietnamese civilians off the skids of the last helicopter as it lifted off from the roof of the embassy in what was then called Saigon. I’m not. I remember it all too well.
The Democratic administrations have consistently reduced military budgets, cancelled weapons contracts, reduced or eliminated retention bonuses and instituted recruiting caps that have left the military weakened EVERYTIME they’ve had the chance in the last 40 years.
Global warming has not been proven to be even remotely caused by human activity. The eruption of Mt St Helens put more CO2 and other pollutants into the air in a few hours than the entire industrial revolution. The eruption on Krakatoa in the 1880s was even larger. The current temperatures are not as hot as during either the Climatic Optimum or the Little Climatic Optimum. The Little Climatic Optimum occurred less than 1000 years ago when the closest thing on the road to an SUV was a horse drawn cart. Since the Little Climatic Optimum, the earth has actually gone through a 300+ year long mini ice age. At our current rate of increase, we’ll get to the temperatures experienced during the Little Climatic Optimum in about 150 - 200 years.
The Kyoto Protocols have so damaged the economy of many European countries, that many economists are saying that if they don’t withdraw from the protocols, their economies could collapse. The whole sending of money to third world dictators to purchase “carbon credits” have left without the money necessary to upgrade their equipment to be able to compete with China and India who are exempt from Kyoto. Should we follow their example?
Democrats have consistently argued against stiffer or mandatory sentencing guidelines for violent or repeat offenders. Seeing as 75+% of the violent crime in this country is committed by only 25% of the criminals, doesn’t it make sense that when we catch them, we should put them away until they are no longer a threat to the law abiding citizen? Do I really need to remind you of the Democratic stance on the Death Penalty? Perhaps if Ted Bundy had been executed after the first time he was arrested, another 20+ women would still be alive. He damn well hasn’t killed anyone since he was executed.
Democrats have consistently championed gun control as a means of crime control. This is patently false and has been proven so by all scientifically repeatable studies. Even when the Carter administration commissioned two anti gun professors to do a study of the effects of gun control laws on criminal behavior, the professors changed their opinions at the end of the study. The Anti Gun professors tried an unique approach. They actually interviewed over 25,000 CRIMINALS to find out how gun laws effected them. They were stunned by the results. Imagine their surprise at finding out that convicted felons, who have been ineligible to legally purchase firearms since 1968, would either buy them illegally or steal them. When faced with the absurd proposition that they wouldn’t be able to get a handgun, most replied that they’d simply saw the barrel and stock off of a rifle or shotgun. Imagine that, career criminals would do something illegal. Additionally, John Lott has did research for his book “More Guns, Less Crime” that NOONE has been able to prove inaccurate or incorrect, nor has his methodology been proven to be anything but rock solid.
As for the comment about the Democrats trying to give criminals a safe work environment by pushing for gun control, criminals have flat out stated that they prefer unarmed victims. A 13 yr old gang member who was involved in the carjacking, robbery and murder of a couple of German tourists in Florida said that the gang intentionally targeted rental cars because they knew the tourists would be unarmed and therefore unable to protect themselves effectively. From the mouthes of babes. That is one reason why rental car companies in Florida stopped putting rental company license plate frames on their vehicles.
If anyone takes exception to my remarks, please feel free to look them up. They’re all based on historical fact, not some liberal hysteria.

Oh I forgot a couple of points. Increased tax rates have repeatedly stifled economic growth and hence have lead to reduced, not increased revenues. A leading economist (I don’t recall his name at the moment and I don’t want to guess incorrectly) stated that “If revenues increase when you lower tax rates, you haven’t lowered them enough.” The deficit isn’t paid by raising tax rates, it’s paid by increasing tax revenues. When people get to keep more of their money, they buy things and make investments that channel even more money into the tax coffers.
Most people don’t pay cash for cars, they finance them. Their tax refund may be enough for a down payment, but the sales and other taxes are not paid on the down payment but rather on the entire price of the vehicle. Sales and other taxes and fees frequently run over 11% of the price of the vehicle. If someone gets a $3000 tax refund and then uses it to buy a $40,000 vehicle (say a Suburban), they would be paying over $4000 in taxes, the salesman would be paying $500 in income taxes on the commission, the dealership would be paying taxes on the profit, the transporter would be paying income taxes on his fees, the manufacturer would be paying taxes on the profit from the sale of the vehicle, and the assembly line worker would be paying taxes on his income from building it. If you were the one collecting the money, which would you rather have, the initial $3000 or the $5500+ from all of the ancillary taxes? Now imagine if that tax refund had been $300,000 instead of only $3,000. Instead of buying a car, the taxpayer builds an addition to his factory and hires 10 employees who then produce products which are then sold and produce even more tax revenues for the government through ancillary taxes. Not only that, but the employees would also be paying taxes and buying things on which taxes were being collected as well. That folks is why LOWER tax RATES PRODUCE HIGHER tax REVENUES.
