It was later revealed that the President Lyndon B. Johnson was unsure the event occurred. Was Rosie suggesting that captured British sailors is nothing more than a hoax to provoke a war with Iran? After all, Rosie now believes the September 11 attacks were orchestrated by the U.S. government.
What Justin may not have picked up on was the fact that Joy, Elizabeth and Barbara basically let her speak and didn’t really react, which agitated Rosie to the point of distraction.   I concur with his point that Walters just let her spew the lie without correcting her, which seems to be a pattern with them.Â
Justin did another piece last week, where Joe Scarborough is quoted as saying:
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Well, I’m not fired up about it so much as I am very discouraged that ABC and Barbara Walters would continue to allow Rosie O’Donnell to use their air time to continue spewing this type of hatred. You know, she suggested a few weeks back that Khalid Sheikh Muhammad was an innocent man who had just been roughed up at Gitmo so much that he made up these stories about planning September 11 and all the other terror attacks and that was of course crazy and completely goes against what the 9/11 Commission determined. But then you have Rosie O’Donnell saying on national television that the United States government took down the World Trade Centers, killed 3,000 Americans and did it to cover up for Enron’s misdeeds. And again, the real tragedy here is that Barbara Walters, a woman who’s been a real pioneer in journalism, the reason why so many people decided to become journalists is sitting there allowing this to happen on her show for ratings. It’s, it is a sad, sad demise for a once great journalistic figure who now seems to be a person who can only land interviews like Hugo Chavez, and ask questions like: “Are you the going to ever get married, or are you married to the revolution? Would you like a cup of coffee?”

How high are the ratings? I can’t find actual data to save my life. All I find is press reports saying that the ratings are higher(this year) for the 18-24 age group, but they fail to mention what was lost in the older age groups…

Now with regard to those Royal Marines; They are unfirmed members of an organized military. Interrogation of them is a violation of the Geneva Convention, as would putting them on trial be if Iran does it.
WHERE is Amnesty International? WHERE is the U.N.? Where are the howls of protest, the talking heads in the MSM, the protests, the demands that Iran stop violating the rights of these Brits? WHERE is Abu Ghraib Ted, “Under New Management” Murtha, and all the so deeply concerned Denocrites? Where are all the loudmouthed asswipes who flood the media every time it is rumored that an alleged violation has occured at Gitmo, that the morning coffee was served cold or the donuts were stale?

The Iranians have been having a staring contest with the west for 28 years, and except for Ronald Reagan, every western government has blinked.
Mahmoud and the Mullahs have been trying to provoke a war or to gain concessions from the west and have gotten the concessions everytime except when Reagan ordered the Navy to stop them from mining the gulf. Make no mistake about it, Mahmoud has clearly stated that he wants a holy war with the infidel west at any cost. Remember, the radical Islamists have no regard for human life whatsoever and have brainwashed their followers to believe that being a martyr for Allah assures them 72 virgins in heaven. Hence they have no reason to fear death and are all the more dangerous for it. At this point in time, we have the option of turning the entire middle east over to the Islamofascists and their terrorist allies, send in a small special operations contingent to retrieve the kidnapped sailors (keep in mind that Mahmoud was one of the original hostage takers at the US embassy in 1979, so he has probably spread them out in order to make locating and rescuing them all difficult if not impossible), or we can simply write them off as casualties of war and begin shelling Tehran into submission.
To save lives, I’d opt for the Russian method of dealing with the situation. When the Iranians took Russian diplomats hostage in 1979, the KGB and the Soviet Army Spetsnaz forces located and kidnapped family members of the hostage takers. They sent the hostage takers photos and severed fingers from the family members. The Russian diplomats were immediately released with an apology. Is it a brutal way to handle the situation? Yes. Did it work with no loss of life? Yes. Islamofascists may have no regard for their own lives, but their fathers and sons are generally a different story. Is it better to be brutal and save lives or to be PC and cost them? Our fighting this war with one hand tied behind our back has lead to more deaths than should have occurred, but the rules of engagement didn’t allow actions that would’ve been standard operating procedure in a European war. When the enemy has had there morale broken, it is far easier to get them to surrender. Having US congressmen and senators refer to them as freedom fighters and our soldiers as jack booted Nazis, only helps to boost their morale, as does continually telling them that we have lost the war despite the actual conditions on the battlefield being to the contrary.
FAO I remember well that incident and how the KGB handled it. But that is sooo politically incorrect, and unfortunately we are hamstrung by having to care about what the PC crowd thinks about how war should be waged. That is the problem in Iraq and has been all along. As you and others have pointed out, war should be waged only one way: to win.
But the Left has undermined and hamstrung this effort, then they stand up and pontificate about how it has all been a failure. Kind of like how they are the ones who have been responsible for criminals in Kalifornia and other states sitting on death row for 30 years, while endless frivolous appeals are filed every time there is a chance justice will be carried out. Then these same Leftists point out that it cost so much money to sentence criminals to death, when they are the very onces who caused that.
This nation will never make any progress as long as enough people care about what the Left thinks. The day a majority stop, we start to move forward again.

Rosie said she could bring a physicist in to explain how fire cannot melt steel…I am not joking! This blathering, bloated buffoon probably couldn’t even spell “physicist”! (and anyway, Rosie, physicists don’t trifle themselves with the strength of materials. And any high-school science student could probably explain how a hot fire, fueled by thousands of gallons of jet fuel, could indeed melt structural metals.)
