We do not have a large enough military in ground troops to fight the wars the PC way that the Dems love so much. However we do have the air forces necessary to fight the wars the way that we dealt with Germany and Japan during WWII. We also have cruise missiles as well as some other VERY sophisticated forms of Artillery. We could easily win a war in Iran. We’d simply have to do it in a VERY UN PC method. We would simply have to make a huge example of them and burn the country to the ground like we did Dresden during WWII. As a history geek, I’d HATE to see all of the historical sites inside of Iran destroyed, as I was with the ones in Sarajevo and Baghdad, but if that is what it takes to quash the continuing threat from a potentially WMD armed hostile Islamofascist regime, so be it.

For those who felt we shouldn’t have gone into Iraq, I have but one question. Is it better to strike an enemy who can inflict massive damage before or after he has struck you? Saddam was a threat not because he could or would be able to attack us directly, but because he was more than willing ot provide the necessary aid to the terrorists who would and still can. Iran’s ruling clan is the same way. It is not necessarily them that we need to fear, as much as the proxies that they will happily train, arm, and financially support in their efforts to attack us. Do you not understand the importance of the fact that they were paying Lebanese families to conceal rockets and launchers in their homes so that any retaliatory strike by Israel against Hezbollah would result in their Lebanese allies being killed and then used as props in a propaganda war?

I agree 100%.

The performance issue is due to lack of numbers. Colin powell had the right idea- use over whelming force. But we can’t, and here is why.

Bill Clinton gutted the military- he cut 800,000 military personal and their civilian support. That sort of damage in an all volunteer army can take years, even decades to mend. We should always have a standing volunteer army of 2-3 million.

And yes- we shouldn’t start any war in the near future- at least until we redeploy our troops in Japan, Europe and elsewhere to better take advantage of them.

All you Hawks who are gnashing your teeth in anger and tearing at your clothes praying for war with Iran shouldd watch out…

The War in Iraq and Afghanistan have gone poorly, concerning keeping the peace with the natives…

I’m convinced that the American Military would perform just as poorly in Iran, if not worse, than it has in Iraq.

This has NOTHING to do with tit-for-tat. I’ve seldom seen such moral relativism.

The US had probabe cause for the arrests, while Iran does NOT have probable cause as it has plainly been displayed that the British soldiers were within Iraqi waters through global positioning devices.

The Iranians will be tried, and if found innocent released. In previous cases, these arrests were turned over to Iraqi officials.
