Sign The Stop Rosie Petition

Remember this?

Presenting such deeply flawed and factually inaccurate misinformation to the American public and to children would be a gross miscarriage of your corporate and civic responsibility to the law, to your shareholders, and to the nation:

The Communications Act of 1934 provides your network with a free broadcast license predicated on the fundamental understanding of your principle obligation to act as a trustee of the public airwaves in serving the public interest. Nowhere is this public interest obligation more apparent than in the duty of broadcasters to serve the civic needs of a democracy by promoting an open and accurate discussion of political ideas and events:

Should Disney allow this programming to proceed as planned, the factual record, millions of viewers, countless schoolchildren, and the reputation of Disney as a corporation worthy of the trust of the American people and the United States Congress will be deeply damaged. We urge you, after full consideration of the facts, to uphold your responsibilities as a respected member of American society and as a beneficiary of the free use of the public airwaves to cancel this factually inaccurate and deeply misguided program.

Good, now go sign this!

    I signed it.

I did not sign it. Opinion is protected free speech. Rosie’s rants are presented as opinion, not as a supposed factual re-enactment of historical events that the mini-series referenced was.

I didn’t sign it either. While Toasted Tofu’s reasoning is fundumentally flawed (free speech is not protected over public airways) I agree with the premise she should be allowed to continue.

While irresponsible and factually flawed, her rants does nothing to break the law or FCC regulations.

However, I do encourage folks to display their outrage through their pocket books and via protest to the station that airs her. That is the best way to quell the sitution.

I agree with 2&3: If you don’t like it, turn it off (like I do with Limbaugh and O’Reily).

I’m not standing still for another Michael Moore-esq slander. My liberal wife has banned ABC from the house.

There are some lines you don’t cross. Rosie O’Dumbass and ABC crossed it.

I am going to sign it because I despise Rosie and while she has the right to her opinion, it does not deserve to be on national tv.

Figure’s there’d be some wingnuts that want to censor just because they can’t stand the truth!

Of course I am not signing that!!!. I would sign a petition to preserve “The View”, even if it meant enacting a special Federal tax to pay for it. Kind of like NPR! The show features timely and accurate information, so of course it must absolutely be protected! It is practically a national resource, much like SA

I think the ignorant public at large should be compelled by regulations to watch “The View” every day! They would learn a lot!!!

6- Banned ABC? Guess if you have any Disney related stuff you best toss that out in the trash too. If you’re going to boycott, go all the way to the top.

You mean your wife isn’t a follower of any ABC primetime shows, like Desperate Housewives or Lost?

10, No, Tofu, not at all. She Does watch “Ellen”, though.

8&9, Rox, you are nuts. There should be NO FEDERAL FUNDS going to NPR or PBS. The View is a capitalist venture and makes money for ABC, until the boycotts kick in, the ABC will either dump Rosie or the View.

Censorship is only practiced by the government and is banned in America by the 1st Amendment. Too bad you libs flunked Constitutional Law and Civics.

Someone needs to STOP FAT ROSIE from being able to talk. In Iran or Syria if she wasn’t killedoutright they would extract her tongue.

    She disgusts me.

I am tired of listening to her mouth just because she has a forum and an audience, enough is enough, shut her up. I’d rather listen to Elisabeth Hasselbeck, now, she makes sense.

She’s supposedly currently in contract renewal discussions with ABC & Barbara. The rumor is she’s seeking $40 million/year.

19- I heard that she isn’t in actual renewal with Babs, but with ABC for a show of her own…supposedly it is too late for fall 08′, so she stays for a year, but that was from E-online(?)

Also, Rosie is not presenting her view as opinion, she is presenting it as fact, and Babs has sat there and let her spew falsehoods without unchallenge…

For the love of god, people: enough about Rosie!

I imagine there are far more important things in our world to discuss than what she said on her show.

I have never watched a single second of “The View” and I hopefully never will. Who cares what they say there?!?

Get back to the news, and what’s really important.

20- Could be, I just heard the ‘$40 mil’ and ‘contract negotiations’. No denying she’s given ‘The View’ a major ratings bump. And isn’t that all that’s important for the media: more viewers. If you can be as outrageous and deranged as Rosie or O’Reilly, you too can cash in huge! ;)

Actually I would prefer to handle the Rosie situation in a manner more appopriate than to simply change channels. It costs advertisers 10 times as much to attract a new customer as it does to retain a current one. My means of dealing with Rosie would be to have everyone watch the show, record the advertisers and her comments. Then send a little note to the VP of sales for the advertisers and ask if they actually support her radical views quoting them in the letter. Then advise them that if they are going to support such idiotic drivel, you’ll have to simply take your business to the competition. The last thing ANY VP of sales wants to hear is that they are going to lose a loyal customer because of an objectionable ad.

Many Americans do not approve of Rosie’s lifstyle or views…Rosie’s comments have only validated how STUPID she is and how Right-Wing ABC is for not Firing Rosie….Rosie and ABC will be significantly harmed by ratings in the future because of her Right-Wing opinions which she can not validate.

Why would anyone ever want to pay to see Rosie in a movie…listen to her as a talk show host or on any television show…I don’t care what she says…Roise is self-serving and has her own personal agenda…

Hopefully, Rosie will spend the rest of her life…Broke because no major producer or national media organization will hire her in the future except for indiivduals who are just like her….

When idiots like Rosie O’Donnell are looked upon as intelligent, then we, as a society, are in trouble. This sort of thing has happened before. We give celebrities too much leeway when in comes to putting out their points of view. Giving her an audience of at least 50 million people every day is giving her power. Her audience isn’t ignoring her—they are believing her. ABC-TV has to take control of their network and get rid of her. She is going overboard. This isn’t a discussion panel anymore, it has become a 45-minute rant for Rosie’s political problem of the day. Barbara Walters needs to take control of this program again, also. This was her idea!!! The View was supposed to be a forum for Barbara to quietly discuss whatever caught her fancy in the news that day while drinking tea. Since Rosie came on, it’s become more like the Jerry Springer Show.

That’s a great analogy! It is indeed the Jerry Springer show of Politics.

 Rosie O’Donnell is not excercising free speech nor is she telling the truth. I do believe that she is mentally ill and is coming unhinged on the show. I say the sooner she is gone and into treatment the better. Her comments about 911 was really over the top. Her comments about George W. Bush may be her opinion but the other attacks just show her ignorance. She is ticking way too many people off and if they remove Don Imus off the air the same should be done to all outrageous talk show spokesperson. She has really bullied her fellow co hosts and frankly looks like a hoodlum. This has nothing to do with her lifestyle, that is her business and frankly when you compare Ellen Degeneres to her, there is none as Ellen comes out a winner.
