If you’re going to make a mistake, make sure there aren’t any cameras around.

It’s being called the equivalent of a paparazzi gotcha:A snapshot of Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) and his chief political/media adviser David Axelrod — taken in the Senator’s Capitol Hill office!ROLL CALL reports: Congressional ethics rules forbid the use of federal office space for political and campaign activity.

A spokeswoman for the Obama camp declined comment to the paper.

Obama and Axelrod are old buddies whose relationship dates back years and they could have been having an innocuous conversation, one strategist noted. But it does raise some flags, which is the last thing a contender in a competitive race with a polished, practiced vet such as Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) wants to do. “It could be seen as a rookie mistake,” the consultant said.

Ian questions if this might have caused Obamas abrupt backing out of the Fox News Democratic primary debate in Detroit.

if this might have caused Obamas abrupt of the Fox News Democratic primary debate in Detroit. My eye caught this:

if this might have caused Obamas abrupt of the Fox News Democratic primary debate in Detroit.:

“Obama is the only member of the Congressional Black Caucus running for President, and his decision allows other candidates to skip the debate without facing criticism that they are turning their backs on a leading black institution,” Smith reports.

Why?  They are turning their backs on them.

DailyKos: “Good for Obama. He recognized that a leading black institution was turning its back on its constituents by partnering with Fox News.”

Matt Stoller of MyDD: “Well this is a good sign … I’m going to give $25 to Obama for this. Now we’re waiting on Senator Clinton (and Biden, Dodd, Richardson, Kucinich, etc). Both Edwards and Obama were aware of this for some time, and it took courage for them to repudiate Fox News.”

Oh, that’s why!

Congressional ethics rules forbid the use of federal office space for political and campaign activity.

This calls for immediate investigation!!! We MUST get to the bottom of this! This is a most serious matter!

    Oh…wait…Obama is a Democrat…Never mind…

Right, yeah, this is why Obama said he would not be attending the Fox/CBC debate.

    Clinton is out, too. ;)

So I suppose if Fox still wants to have a debate without the front runners, they certainly can. Kucinich I’m sure would go….

Anyway, the bruhaha over that photo is hysterical. You have no idea what was going on in that room. Pretty casual it looks to me and no ‘campaign’ work.

Of course, I understand why the right would try to turn this photo into a scandal though.

How would this photo have anything to do with Obama rejecting the invite to a Fox hosted debate?

Hillary and Obama Turn Their Backs On The Troops By Pulling Out Of Fox Debate

When Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama announce that they are going to boycott the one broadcaster that is preferred by our fighting men and women overseas they send a message; “we don’t care about you”.

4-I think the time slot for the debate should be used to show the faults of the candidates. They claim to be on the side of the blacks but it’s okay to skip it now cause the black guy isn’t going….

Axelrod is an employee of Obama’s campaign….looks pretty innocent? How about that paperwork on his lap? Did he bring a stapled page of jokes to tell?

4, Tofu, you don’t think that it is possible that the CLINTON campaign and supporters are pushing the crime of Obama?

Tofu, you need a shrink. You are almost back to seeing John Ashcroft under your bed.

There is more to this situation than there ever was to the last two so-called “scandals” the Democrites and the MSM manufactured for the Bush Admin. But you don’t see it; you just spin it away…

Robert, the left always spins crimes their way. Scooter Libby lied and was convicted. Sandy Berger committed a federal offense compromising our national security and got a wrist slap. The left has a double standard when it comes to ethics and all other matters. It’s been witnessed time and time again.

I just have to wonder who took the photo and then leaked it. I don’t have anything against Obama. He seems like a nice, affable guy but a bit naive. Sort of like Jimmy Carter before he was elected President. Jimmy might have been a decent Governor for Georgia but was a disaster as a President. Were I Obama, I would seriously take a long hard look at who was in that room, who took that photo, and who they’re really working for. From the angle of the photo, it looks like it was taken by either a camera concealed in a briefcase on a table, or someone’s cel phone. Either way it smacks of political espionage and sabotage ala Watergate.

I am far less concerned about Obama meeting with a friend/political advisor than I am the use of these kinds of underhanded political tactics. I don’t care whether the candidate is Democrat or Republican, this kind of political sabotage is unacceptable. While releasing legitimately gathered information to the press is one thing, this reeks of illegality.

It easily could have been the Klinton Kamp. Protocol, ethics, laws have never hampered them.
