Media Matters Tries To Deny Soros Factor

By: Pam On: Apr/14/07 - 13 Comments

For whatever reason, Media Matters is trying to deny,   yet again, any financial ties to the hard left liberal George Soros:

In fact, Media Matters has never received funding from progressive philanthropist George Soros.

Back in 2004 and  2005, they tried to do the exact same thing, but had to back peddle from that, as the money trail is there.  Soros’ various entities were instrumental in getting MM up and running:

After initially claiming on Dec. 1, 2004 that “neither Media Matters nor its president and CEO David Brock has received any money from Soros or from any organization with which he is affiliated,” the group is no longer disavowing any connection with groups “affiliated” with Soros.

The Media Matters shift came after Cybercast News Service questioned the group’s financial ties and demonstrated that there were numerous and extensive links between Media Matters and several Soros “affiliates” like MoveOn.org, the Center for American Progress and Soros ally Peter Lewis.

Media Matters for America (MMA) spokeswoman Sally Aman responded to Cybercast News Service’s questions with an e-mail. “In response to your query regarding donor funding Media Matters for America has never received funding directly from George Soros,” Aman stated, no longer denying any relationship with organizations affiliated with Soros.

She went on to reference the “early support from Moveon.org, and the New Democrat Network,” that Media Matters had received.

MM is trying to hide their Soros connection because they have put out a hit list of talk show hosts they want fired. You can guess they are all Conservative and none are Liberal. How about firing Randi Rhodes?

    Media Matters Scurries From Soros

Hmm, why would they try and deny their association with the primary benefactor?

George Soros is as progressive as Adolf Hitler. Keep in mind that the Nazi party was officially the National Socialist Workers party. Doesn’t that sound progressive? George Soros is also funding the international antigun movement. I’m certain that he’d agree with this statement:

“This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police will be more efficient and the world will follow our lead into the future.”

BTW that statement was made by Adolf Hitler in 1935. Now some in the anti gun movement will say that gun ownership in Germany increased after this was passed, and it did. The Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe, SA and SS all had more guns. Unfortunately for the rest of the citizenry they did not. So for the lefties who believe that only the police and military should have guns, look back in history 70 years and see how well that worked out. Those who refuse to learn from history are destined to repeat it.

FAO I used to have a poster that stated, in large letters at the top: “The Experts Agree! Gun Control Works!” It then has a gallery of photos including Hitler, Stalin, Castro, and other “experts” who have carried out their progressive gun control plans.

    Kinda summed it up…

Ah, yes, the condescending, above it all rationalization. If a Republican is alleged to have maybe stepped on a crack in the sidewalk, there must be an investigation! It’s a Republican Culture of Corruption! It’s the latest scandal du juor!

But when a Democrite is shown to be corrupt, oh, yes, well, you know (wink) they all do it, don’t you know? (wink) That’s just the way it is, you political simpleton! (nod)
