Hot Air and ABC News have the  the coverage, but Ginsburgs comments are hysterical:

“Today’s decision is alarming,” Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg wrote in dissent. She said the ruling “refuses to take … seriously” previous Supreme Court decisions on abortion.

Ginsburg said the latest decision “tolerates, indeed applauds, federal intervention to ban nationwide a procedure found necessary and proper in certain cases by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.”

She was joined by Justices Stephen Breyer, David Souter and John Paul Stevens.

Didn’t she applaud a 12 year olds right to abortion?

This is where Bush’s Presidency has had the greatest and most profound impact- appointment of Suprememe Court Justices. Indeed, one of the positives of his administration.

It is about time something got decided using only the US Constitution, Federal law, and US customs & traditions, not foreign ones.

Ginsburg is losing it. Don’t let her have a gun.

This is indeed an outrage! Anyone should have the right to murder a child just as it is being born!

Ginsburg is losing it. Don’t let her have a gun.

Unless it is certain that she will only use it on herself…

I think you all need to read up on what exactly what Dilation and Extraction and Intact Dilation and Evacuation are, and when and why it is medically recommended and applied.

How many of the 5 old men who voted to uphold this ban have PhD’s in medicine?

    Just curious.

4- TT, late term abortion is murder…why is it necessary to stab the babies in the head with a scissors, rather than just take the baby and hope for the best?

I editted your comment with links to the definitions!

Why would a PhD matter?  The court isn’t made up of lumberjacks, yet they decide logging and timber cases…it is a matter of law.

#4 who cares what those terms precisely mean? And how many of the justices who dissented have pHDs in medicine and why does it matter?

Killing a baby at full term is murder, pure and simple. You can try to sugar coat it with all the technical sterie euphemisms (…extraction of the products of conception…)you want, but it still is just plain, ugly, murder.

6- Again, Robert, I ask you to read up on exactly what “partial-birth” abortion is. It’s not an fetus at ‘full term’, but a fetus that is not viable and/or presents a serious health-risk to the mother. What the non-medically trained Supremes did today was say the life of the mother is less important than a fetus growing in her womb. D&E and ID&E abortions are rare (less than 0.2% of all abortions) and not “on-demand” or convenience abortions requested by the mother.

7- Actually, you may want to read up on what you are asking others to do. You just made excuses for murder. We have postings in the archives about partial birth abortion.

While this is still a “kick in the nuts” to the Pro-Choice crowd, this ruling really doesn’t effect the 90+% of abortions that take place in the first 12 weeks.

Abortion in America isn’t going anywhere…and Bush/The Right have less than 2 years to make any signifigant legal changes, and even that isn’t very likely to occur, much more than something like this.

The Right won’t have the presidency or congress for quite some time, come 2008.

This is a bump in the road for the reproductive rights movement, but nothing more.

Savor the taste of victory, my righty friends…it’s not going to last long for your team. (!)

Yea San Fran Lib, you are indeed the winners when it comes to killing babies, taking away land from the Boy Scouts and forbidding the flag from being flown on Fire Engines a week after 9-11 and taking God out of the Pledge of Allegiance. You should be proud of your useless accomplishments toward your war on democracy and journey to socialism. Truely pathetic.

“The Right won’t have the presidency or congress for quite some time, come 2008.”

I’ll take that bet. I see Guiliani as the next President. If the Dem Congress continues to screw up as they have been in the short time period that they’ve had it, they’ll loose congress in 2010.

SFL once again you are apparently unable to distinguish the argument here. We are talking about so-called partial-birth abortion, which includes the intentional murder of a viable baby just because the mother decides so.

We are not taking about abortion in general.

It is very difficult for me to even look at the graphics in this thread (above). Yea, I know, I am responding emotionally, but it just does.

One small thought for those screaming about this decision. If it doesn’t endanger the woman’s health for her to deliver a dead fetus, exactly how will it endanger her health to deliver a live baby? It’s not like the baby is going to be any larger than the fetus. If they are going to pull it out anyway, why not save the trouble of suctioning out the brain by just delivering it? There are plenty of couples out there looking to adopt new borns. Exactly how much worse for the baby will adoption be than abortion? Just a pragmatic thought. If she’s not going to be able to deliver normally, why not simply perform a c section? The only reason why to use this procedure is for the convenience of the mother.

I’d like to see a dozen or so supporters of this procedure to kill viable babies laid face down on a table. Then someone can come up behind them and shove a pointed scissors into their brain.
Then immediately ask them how they liked it!
