“Governing is not just whining and pandering” UPDATE: Lieberman Slaps Reid: “We should not surrender in the face of barbarism”
Â
From Michelle comes this fromMilblogger COBDanny who gives Reid both barrels:
Dear Senator Reid,
Thank you for finally putting this whole Iraq War mess to bed. The timing couldn’t be better for my family. You see, my son is serving in this “lost war” with the 82nd Airborne Division; actually on his third tour. My family will be very happy to have him home within 30 days because then he can attend my daughter’s graduation from college and Commissioning Ceremony.
My bride is skeptical of all of this but I reassured her that I know for a fact that he will be home soon because based on your statement and being the Senate Majority Leader, you will kill all funding for this “lost war” immediately.
My bride was still unconvinced and I explained it to her this way.
If Senator Reid, based on the information that the Senate Majority Leader has, has determined that this war is lost; there is nothing left to do but come home. The way I see it, if you were to vote for anything less; you would be personally liable for any future wounded or God-Forbid dead soldiers.
Although, I have the utmost confidence that you will do the right thing and de-fund this war immediately; I have retained legal council just in case.
So, know this Senator; if you don’t de-fund this war within seven days, I will hold you personably liable for any harm to American servicemen. If the war is lost and you have the power to end it then just do it. Stop whining like a ***** and just do it…
…You, a person in high authority in the US government, have made a definitive statement that an action is occurring with no redeeming value. Said action is causing harm and death to US citizens. You have the unique power to stop said action and thusly stop the harm.
So Harry, I say have the balls to actually do it or find yourself liable.
Governing is not just whining and pandering. At some point you have to actually govern. It is painfully clear that you have neither the intellectual power nor the fuzzy kiwis to actually do it.Feel free to share this with Neville Nancy as I plan the exact same action for her pathetic ***.
The soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen that you are endangering by either your idiotic statements that empower the enemy or your overt inaction that contributes to their danger; are American citizens. In either case, you have endangered them and you alone have the ability to correct it.
See you in court.
Very sincerely,
Crotchety Old Bastard
Friday, after Lieberman made his remarks, Reid struck again.”The longer we continue down the President’s path,” the majority leader told colleagues in a Senate floor speech, “the further we will be from success.”
He also pointed out that Democrats generally agree with him.
“In an effort to shift attention from this Administration’s failed polities – and I say that in the plural – the President and his allies have repeatedly questioned whether I and my fellow Democrats support our troops,” the majority leader told fellow senators. “No one wants us to succeed in Iraq more than the Democrats. We’ve proven that time and time again since this war started more than four years ago. We take a back seat to no one in supporting our troops, and we will never abandon our troops in a time of war.”

Reid is a corrupt weasel. He’ll go down in history as a true son of Neville Chamberlain.

Truly one of the slimiest, most degenerate scumbag politicians of our time. Most scumbag politicians just fill their pockets with money. This one sells out his country for perceived political advantage.
Every day further he serves in Congress is a travesty and further cheapens that already cheapened body.

It is time to officially designate today’s Democrite party as the cut-and-run, surrender, loathe the military, perjury, corruption, and treason party.

This was posted on a message board I frequent - it mentions specifically John Murtha, but I’m sure Harry Reid would fit just as well:
Hope I got that link coded correctly!

Well, I didn’t get it coded correctly, but if you copy & paste it in your browser, it will work. Maybe Peejz can fix it for me! (Not used to doing links in html, just in vb).

Love the Song. These morons think the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines aren’t going to remember this when they get back? These are not the 18 yr old conscripts from the Vietnam war. These guys are older, smarter, and better educated than any army in history and they are going to remember who stabbed them in the back when they return and vote. These SMs (service members)are not the same bunch that came back from Vietnam and went to work in the same union factories their fathers had worked in for 30 years. These guys either have or will be getting college degrees. They all have high school diplomas or GEDs and none of them are conscripted convicts. They are smart enough to understand what these morons are doing, despite what the Dems think. What I would find very funny would be if Lieberman jumped ship and became a Republican. He couldn’t be much worse of a RINO than Lincoln Chaffee was and that would give control of the Senate back to the Republicans as it would split the Senate 50-50 with the VP as president of the Senate the tie breaking vote. That would result in Harry being tossed out as majority nonleader. That would just be fantastic. Want to make sure that Lieberman not only gets reelected as a Republican but stays so, commission a couple of new subs at the subyard in New Haven. That would almost save that city economically.

Hmmm….the Democrites are going to have to figure out a way to keep them from voting, or for their votes to keep from getting counted, like they tried in the 2000 election.

It is rather funny to hear about how Gore won Florida because morons were supposedly disenfranchised, but over 3000 Service Members had their votes denied. Votes that would’ve more than offset Gore’s supposed margin of victory. I swear that “Starship Troopers’” system of government is looking better every day. The idea that the only people who should be allowed to vote or hold office are those who are willing to risk their lives in service to the country is sounding pretty damn good. If you aren’t willing to die to protect a country, why should you be allowed to lead it? If you aren’t willing to put the needs of your countrymen above your own, why should they trust you to lead them? Wouldn’t that be an appropriate description of the phrase, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”? JFK may have been a womanizer, but he was also a war hero and new a thing or two about self sacrifice. Too bad it didn’t rub off on Teddy. JFK swam miles in the open ocean to save the lives of his PT boat crew, Teddy wouldn’t swim 50 ft to save the life of one of his campaign workers.

9. I swear that “Starship Troopers’”system of government is looking better every day.
In other news, here’s something kind of funny:
“For the majority leader of the United States Senate, in the time of war, with soldiers dying on the ground, announcing that we have lost the war, is very close to treasonous. I looked it up while we were driving over here, what the definition of ‘treason’ is. It’s the betrayal of trust.”
– Tom DeLay, 2007
“I cannot support a failed foreign policy….President Clinton has never explained to the American people why he was involving the US military in a civil war in a sovereign nation, other than to say it is for humanitarian reasons, a new military-foreign policy precedent. Was it worth it to stay in Vietnam to save face? What good has been accomplished so far? Absolutely nothing.”
– then-House Majority Whip Tom Delay, 1999, a month into the US mission in Kosovo

10, AKD, take your own advice and read a book, specifically, “Starship Troopers” by Robert Heinlein, and while you are at it, read the rest of Heinlein’s Lazarus Long series. Maybe then you can understand what the original author was saying, not a Director who just was looking for commercial success, not artistic altruism.

11. The book (which I’ve read, though it’s been years) seems pretty close to the film; the only difference is that the book includes gender segregation in addition to the fascist overtones.
So…How about that wacky Tom Delay…

12, try again. There was a lot left out of the film and other issues altered to fit a PC audience and director.

“No one wants us to succeed in Iraq more than the Democrats. We’ve proven that time and time again since this war started more than four years ago. We take a back seat to no one in supporting our troops, and we will never abandon our troops in a time of war.â€
There you have it, a completely absurd, ridiculous sttement that is 180 degrees from the truth. In fact the Democrites have been undermining the war effort since shortly after the invasion of Iraq was launched.
John “In Cold Blood” Murtha accusing Marines of being cold blooded killers before the results of investigation were even available. Really fills the troops with confidence, doesn’t it?
John “In the Middle of the Night” and “Get a College Degree or Get Stuck in Iraq” Kerry: Slandering and insulting the troops at every opporunity.
Ted “Abu Ghraib” Kennedy taking information released from an Army investigation and trumpeting it into International news, slandering the military and providing a bumper crop of propaganda material for the enemy.
Dick “Turban” Durbin: Too small of a penis to come up with his own way to undermine Bush and the War and slander our troops, Turban Durbin rides on the coattails of Chapatraitor’s Abu Ghraib “scandal” but is at least clever enough to come up with his own idea, the characterization of our troops as nazis and fascists.
Nancy “Stretch” Pelosi: Travelling to meet with our enemies to deliver the message that they only need to wait out the Bush admin. Just what the enemy needs!
Do I need to go on? Today’s Democrite leaders are the sorriest, most disgraceful, selfish, treasonous bunch of filth that ever soiled the political landscape, imo. They make even the corrupt members of the ancient Roman Senate look like honest Patriots.
Anyone who could vote for any of the above-named scum is corrupt, terminally ignorant, or mentally ill.

There is a big difference in the circumstances in the two Delay quotes. We invaded Iraq to topple a dictator and are working to insure that the democratic form of government gets its legs before we leave. There is sectarian violence and terrorist attacks going on but it hardly rises to the level of a civil war. Kosovo was a civil war complete with the kind of government sanctioned genocide that Saddam was engaged in before we got there.
