Joe Biden: If only the Gingrich revolution were over and Democrats controlled Congress, things like Virginia Tech wouldn’t happen.

He may as well have said it, but that is how Allahpundit sums up this:

Speaking at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network event in New York, Biden said President Bush, Newt Gingrich and Karl Rove are responsible for what he called “the politics of polarization.”

Biden said Republicans have created an environment that brings bad things to the United States.

“I would argue, since 1994 with the Gingrich revolution, just take a look at Iraq, Venezuela, Katrina, what’s gone down at Virginia Tech, Darfur, Imus. Take a look. This didn’t happen accidentally, all these things,” he said.

AP says:

I don’t know what’s more delicious: the gratuitous Chavez apology, the moronic Obama-esque moral equivalence between what Imus said and mass murder, or the fact that he’s ranting about polarization at an event hosted by Al Sharpton.

Daschle was the first to stike after 9/11,  so it is fitting that another Democrat do the same!

  26. He’s from Delaware. They had a state representative who wanted to bring back the whipping post in the square in Wilmington to punish drug dealers back in the 80s. Of course, considering the drug dealers’ responses to the thought of being publicly lashed until they cried for mercy, perhaps he was on to something. One drug dealer said he’d much rather be locked up in the prison than publically humiliated by being publicly beaten. It does bring up the question “Doesn’t it make more sense to use the punishment that the criminals fear the most rather than their punishment of choice?”

I like it. Simple, effective, cheap. Saves custody costs.

Unconstitutional, but hey, they’ve shot so many holes in the Constitution already it’s amazing it even stands up anymore.

  36. Hey, now that the Supremes have started basing whether something is Constitutional or not on international law, we can probably get that lashing thing going by resorting to comparing it to Sharia in a number of African and Middle Eastern countries. Wouldn’t that be the PC multicultural thing to do? WEG:twisted:
