Just a few important things going on in the various campaigns:
2008 Democrats Propose a Ceiling on Bush Tax Cuts
Although they have yet to release detailed proposals or to talk about the issue in any depth on the campaign trail, Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama, and former Senator John Edwards, said through aides that they were backing variants of the same approach, which would result in higher taxes on income, capital gains and stock dividends for upper-income people. All of them, as well Senators Christopher J. Dodd and Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Gov. Bill Richardson, have made clear that they would support keeping in place the tax cuts that have benefited the vast majority of people, roughly speaking households with income less than $200,000 or so. In that way, the Democratic stance would ensure that a substantial portion of one of Mr. Bush’s signature policies would outlast his presidency, even if his party loses the White House.
But Democrats have also signaled that they intend to undo a central principle of the Bush tax cuts — that they should extend to all income levels — by rolling back reductions that have benefited the wealthiest Americans in recent years.
“Yes, we’ll have to raise taxes,” Mr. Edwards declared in February in one of the first statements by a Democratic candidate on the issue.
On that note, let’s get into Edwards. Dean Barnett has Pink Sapphire-gate - Updated! Yes, that $400.00 haircut just won’t go away, nor should it. The Grey Lady reports:
A spokesman for the campaign, Eric Schultz, said that Torrenueva Hair Designs of Beverly Hills sent the bill for a haircut in February and a second last month to the Edwards campaign and that the campaign mistakenly paid it. Mr. Schultz said Mr. Edwards would reimburse the campaign. He would not say how a haircut could cost $400 or whether it might cover other expenses, too. The stylist, Joseph Torrenueva, said in an interview that his normal charge was $175 “in my shop” and that the extra fee was to go to where the candidate was, a practice he described as routine among his clients. Beyond that, he said, “I really can’t talk about it.”
As Dean points out:
First off, I’m calling bull-shinola on Schultz’s explanation of how the campaign came to pay the bill. In the normal course of things, one leaves a salon and pays one’s bill on one’s way out. While Torrenueva may have been compensated in the fashion that the campaign claims, there is no logical explanation of how Manchester’s Pink Sapphire could have mistakenly sent the bill to the wrong place. I would bet that the Pink Sapphire typically doesn’t send bills out at all.
see-dubya wants you to know “for reasons explained by our capable co-conspirator Mr. Barnett, “Silky Pony” shall henceforth be referred to as “Pink Sapphire“.
Your compliance in this matter will be greatly appreciated.”
Keep in mind that Edwards ‘embarrassed’ by haircut, but didn’t seem embarrassed by his horrible choice of bloggers.

I guess the Democrites think that stifling economic growth and putting the economy into recession are a good thing? They were able, with the help of the MSM, to blame the last recession on Bush in the minds of the uninformed. But if they do this, they will own it.
But Robert, you and I know that the MSM will portray the resulting economic downturn as being part of:
a. A natural economic cycle
b. Caused by the national deficit
c. Caused by the expense of the war (never mind that wars have ALWAYS been good for the economy, someone’s got to make those military supplies. Too bad we’ve offshored so much production that we’ve almost crippled our own firearms industry.)
d. The result of the housing bubble popping (like there are ever more houses than people to live in them)
f. The result of unfair labor practices
g. A vast right wing conspiracy
h. And of course, lest we forget, Man made global warming.
The MSM will become the new “Pravda” only on this side of the Atlantic. For those who don’t know, Pravda is the Russian word for “Truth”. Kind of ironic that that was the name of the propaganda newspaper for the old Soviet Union isn’t it?
Oh look the chickencrats are running away and the hawks are getting hungry:razz:
