“I Don’t Recall” Means You’re A Lying Republican?

By: Pam On: Apr/21/07 - 3 Comments

I am sick to death of the endless Attorney General Alberto Gonzales saga, and the double standards that the MSM uses when reporting on a Republican!  Jeff points out that the Old Media/DNC talking points about his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday include a count (officially pegged at 75) of how many times he uttered “I don’t recall,” in response to a question. The implication is that the Attorney General is hiding something – even though Democrats admit there is not a single bit of evidence of any wrongdoing.

Contrast this with the feeble testimony of Hillary Rodham Clinton and other Clinton Administration officials on several occasions while under oath. The Progressive Review tallied the use of the Amnesiac Defense, listing the number of times people who testified in various Clinton scandals said “I don’t recall” or something similar:

Bill Kennedy …………… 116
Harold Ickes …………… 148
Ricki Seidman ………….. 160
Bruce Lindsey ………….. 161
Bill Burton ……………. 191
Mark Gearan ……………. 221
Mack McLarty …………… 233
Neil Egglseston ………… 250
Hillary Clinton ………… 250
John Podesta …………… 264
Jennifer O’Connor ………. 343
Dwight Holton ………….. 348
Patsy Thomasson ………… 420
Jeff Eller …………….. 697

An oldie but a goodie from Donkey Cons;  Hillary Clinton: Amnesiac

A few examples of poor Mrs. Clinton’s malady:

“I do not remember…”“I have no recollection whatsoever…”“I do not recall…”“I have no memory…”“I also have no recollection…”

The Progressive Review also reprises a Washington Times count of all the creative ways Bill Clinton claimed he couldn’t remember during his Paula Jones deposition. You can read that here.

…The also reprises a count of all the creative ways Bill Clinton claimed he couldn’t remember during his Paula Jones deposition. You can read that.Meanwhile, I’m going to wind this up with my personal favorite from Mrs. Clinton’s April 7, 2006, declaration:

“I do not believe that I made any such statements because I believe I would remember such a discussion if it had occurred…”

So she can’t remember, recall, or recollect anything that happened, but believes that something didn’t happen because if it had she would have remembered it?

2, SFL, Yrally? How many times did Hillary use that phrase during her testimonies? I believe one was before Congress. Does that make Hillary a lying Republican??

This is kind of silly, not publishing my submitted comment.
Sure, it made you look foolish in extremis by listing all of the Republicans who pulled the “I can’t recall” card and (most devastatingly) WHAT they were lying about — as opposed to Hillary and the triviality of what she lied about — but the morally right thing to do was to publish my submission.

Rightie bloggers went from any honest attempt at debate resulting in a charge of “you hate Murrica, the troops, and the Freedom Agenda” to simply not engaging in any debate at all.

But go ahead and quibble… just don’t publish my original comment, whatever you do.
