People have wanted to come to this country for over 200 years to improve their lot in life. The difference is that they didn’t do it by sneaking across the border. They went about doing it legally. I’m not saying that the system isn’t broken. I’m saying that just because a law needs to be changed doesn’t mean you break it or refuse to enforce it. Every other ethnic group that wanted to come here had to go through criminal background checks, medical screenings, and have a sponsor who agreed to insure that they weren’t going to be destitute.

There are people who will risk life and limb to live and work in america, and this is how you treat them? There are those that follow the rules to get here legally..they come first.

It’s nearly impossible for many on the “have” side to imagine the daily reality of the “have nots” and what they will go through to be given an opportunity to provide for themselves or their families.

This gap between rich and poor is the very heart of the immigration/illegal/legal issue.

The real problem is that they are statistically 6 times as likely to engage in criminal activity above and beyond just border jumping as a legal resident, citizen or otherwise. They also tend to put a drain on the economy in the forms of welfare, increased educational costs, and a huge drain on the medical system. Don’t tell me they aren’t a drain on the medical system, I’ve seen the local hospital close it’s emergency room TWICE in the last 4 years due to the illegals not paying their bills.

Like I said, I don’t have a problem with immigration, only illegal immigration. Yes the current system is broken. That doesn’t excuse them for breaking the law.

Alienate the fastest growing segment of the US population.

I’ve been telling this to you guys here for years: you’re party is going to regret that it came down this hard on migrant workers from latin american countries.

These people, their kids and their relatives who are citizens and those not yet born, are going to remember that it was the Conservatives and the Republican Party who bullied them.

You’re losing future votes. Like, big time.

Much as the African Americans vote 90% Democratic, the Hispanics will do the same. And these people will be everywhere in 20 years.
