Bon Bon Goes To Washington

Am late in getting this up..Bon Bon promised she would go to Washington and report back to us on her big adventure…It may appear to have been a political bust, but it sounded like a blast!

Good Morning to you Peejz!!

I wanted to give you a summary of my day yesterday.  While I didn’t
accomplish what I set out to do I did learn some things.

Because they were doing work on the subway tracks what should have been
a 40 minute ride turned into more than an hour.  Then, after trekking
up the hill to the Capitol they wouldn’t let me in.  I had to go down to
the tour group and wait in line.  It’s free but they only allow 30
people in at a time and my turn was 1 1/2 hours after I arrived.  Once I
got in I was told I had to have a pass from my representative before I
was allowed into the galley to watch the session.

After walking across the street to the Longworth building where my
representative Steny Hoyers office is I found that the same thing held.
They let people in in groups and my group was about an hour wait.  When I
asked what to do they suggested I call and get a pass mailed to me.
Lesson learned.  I couldn’t have started anything anyway as my husband is
out of town and he told me he couldn’t be here to bail me out :)

Security is very tight downtown and I intend to get my pass and go back
in a week or two.

By the time I had finished with all of that it was mid afternoon and
before I left I walked through the Botanical Gardens.  Absolutely
beautiful.  It’s free and sits right by the Capitol for any who may be
planning a trip to DC.

I am not finished with this issue and will keep you posted on any new
or revelant details.

I hope you have a good day,
Bon Bon

BonBon, Don’t let Hoyer’s staff catch on to your politics otherwise your pass will always be in the mail never to arrive.

You are correct so far PCD. I called yesterday and they said it was ‘in the mail’ I didn’t tell them I was registered a Republican but I assume they have lists.

2, Yes, they do. The staff does background checks on all people who request passes. Not only do they want to weed out the “Cho”s, but they make sure their people are taken care of and their opponents are well screwed.
