There is a way to make this mess palatable to the citizenry of this country. Drop all references to allowing anyone here in violation of current immigration law to stay, increase fines for hiring anyone that any reasonable person would be lead to believe were in this country illegally to an exorbitant amount, increase workplace enforcement and border enforcement budget allocations to the point of being workable, give Ramos and Campeon full pardons, give Border Patrol officers immunity from prosecution for any actions that would be considered reasonably within the scope of their official duties (i.e. shooting violent border crossers but not drug dealing, smuggling, etc etc), Provide funding for equipment for volunteers willing to stand guard on the border to report illegal crossers, provide funding for construction of the border wall. Also include a provision for incarcerating illegals for a minimum 6 - 12 months if caught entering this country illegally more than once. As a misdemeanor, that would require nothing more than a magistrate to oversee that hearing and sentence the illegal. Prosecute them for any other crime that they commit without bail and provide for minimum sentencing.

I took a tour of Hoover Dam today, and honestly if they could build that in 5 years using 1930s technology, the comment that we can't put up an effective barrier fence on our southern border is pure BS.

Once employers face losing their businesses should they be caught with illegals working for them, the jobs will dry up. Once it becomes obvious that we are going to deport those we catch with nothing but the shirts on their backs, and confiscate everything else (it's property obtained through illegal activities and hence ill gotten gains.) Once these two things are done, the illegals will leave on their own accord. They'd rather leave with everything than be deported with nothing.
