A Message To Harry Reid: Over? Did you say “over”? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

By: Pam On: Jun/13/07 -

Is basically what he just said about our Military! I guess when you are the failure, you try to drag everyone else down to your level!

Harry Reid’s approval rating is half that of Dick Cheney’s and equal to that of Scooter Libbey’s.

God this is scary. The dems are really trying to reap defeat on this war the jihadists have declared on us. As I contemplate the consequences of failure for America I have to ask what’s next? I have respectfully asked in a letter to both Reid and Pelosi what they intend to do after we pull out of Iraq. As with most correspondence to the democrats I get no response.

3- Somehow, BonBon, I imagine your letter said question was a bit more ‘colorful’ than what you suggest here– likely why it ended up in the dead letter office.

No TT you are wrong. I write all my letters with a professional and respectful tone. I have been in the business world for too many years to do otherwise. Shame on you for thinking that….. right back at ya’

Hey Tofu, I think Peejz was just trying to illustrate the concept that Reid et al, like Bluto in “Animal House”, may be horribly wrong in their words and actions but damn it they’re on a roll and nothing is going to stop them. Sort of like a runaway freight train on a 10% down hill grade, only thing that is going to stop it is a train wreck.

It was really interesting at the anti amnesty rally yesterday. There was absolutely no partisan commentary. The Senators could’ve learned a lot about bipartisan support for an action. Everyone was VERY vocal about stopping the bill from passing. In fact a lot of the speakers commented about how this wasn’t a Democratic or Republican issue, it’s an American issue. One of the best speakers was a woman who came here as a child from Mexico legally. Another was a former Army Colonel of hispanic descent. They’ve started an organization called “You Don’t Speak For Me” to counter the open border rhetoric of “La Raza”. Of course there were three lily white college aged twits out there with their “racists ahead” signs. We have a feeling they’re not from AZ. How else could they be lily white when the temps have been over 90 for the better part of the last 2 months? SPF 1,000,000 sunblock?

11- I guess I thought this was a serious thread? My bad.

10- I think most everyone is unhappy with the proposed immigration reform bill on some level. As for amnesty, it’s going to happen to some degree. There will be penalties and restrictions so it’s no free ride, but we aren’t going to round up 12,000,000+ people and ship them back over the border in cattle cars, sorry. If you ever believe that is going to happen, you’re living a fantasy.

Our democracy has a long history of granting amnesty, sometimes conditional, to criminal offenders, be they tax cheats or even those taking up arms against our country as the Confederacy did.

Honestly, I think this is another horse shit wedge issue. Anti-Gays in 2004, Anti-Stem Cell Research in 2006, and now Anti-Illegal Immigrants for 2008. Too funny this latest one was picked because it has divided conservatives much more than moderates and liberals.

Pray for your Great White Hope, Hollywood Thompson to enter, I guess.

Damn TT, I don’t understand how you can be so idiotically paritisan on even the most obviously uniting issues. You seem to be frequently whislting past the grave yard.

12- It is a serious thread, but some of us can still find time to have a sense of humor.

Divided Reps more than Dems? Hardly….As Ted said, this issue has the base of each of the parties united.

Lincoln offered roughly 200,000 after the Civil War. FDR and Truman offered a few thousand to the draft dodgers. Ford offered conditional amnesty to draft dodgers, while Carter offered full and unconditional. These were our citizen’s.

Who is going to collect the penalties? Who will the government collect them from? They don’t even know who/where they are.

We were promised after the last amnesty that it would be the last time…some of us plan to see to it that it is.

    14.

On a more serious note, I think many folks look at proposed solutions and dismiss them. I don’t think there is a single item that will work alone. There needs to be a stepped approach to solving this issue.

IMO, the first step is slowing the flow of illegals into the country. That entails developing a secure border. In order to do so, you must build a wall and man it effectively, while developing technology solutions to aid the men at the border. To man it, I propose a combination of more INS agents and utilizing the national guard.

Of course, this will not stop 100% of the illegal immigrant flow, but it will certainly deter it.

Once this step is completed, I think we need to reform federal law and enforce the laws on the books. This means a comprehensive approach that not only allows but compels local enforcement agencies to participate in conjunction and co-operation with the INS. Most local agencies will be happy to help, as illegal immigration ofthen times impact the local communities the greatest.

15- I agree with your points…We can’t change the 86 Amnesty, but had they followed their own laws and actually allowed the INS to do its job, we wouldn’t be looking at a number of 12 million illegals. Unless we secure the borders, enforce the laws that we have on the books, we will be looking at the exact same problem, again and again….

The borders ARE OPEN until they are shut with troops and the illegals already here are sent home.

How about we improve and streamline ID requirements and then throw employers who hire illegals into pounded-in-the-ass federal prison? Oh, and do away with the born on US soil=automatic citizenship.

Won’t happen though. Business WANTS the cheap labor. And Bush works for Wall Street, not you.

And Peejz, with regard to the civil war, I was referring to President Andrew Johnson, not Lincoln, who issued a series of amnesty proclamations and ended with an unconditional pardon to all individuals who participated in the rebellion.

18- They are using stolen ids…as for the employers, yes they are being punished, but not severely enough…

No, you are born here and you are automatically a citizen, if not, you knock on the front door.

Lincoln offered full amnesty in 1863 in order to bring peace, but is was 28 months until Lee surrendered.  After Lincoln offered this, : Andrew Johnson, Amnesty Proclamation, 29 May 1865

19- I did say “improve” and streamline ID requirements. A simple SS# has no validation in this era. We need to improve our methods of validating people, be that a national ID card with biometrics or something else.

As for being ‘born’ here, no. Unless at least one of your parents holds a legal status, then no friggin way.

And as for Lincoln or Johnson, it doesn’t much matter. My point is still the same. But Johnson is the one to ultimately gave the amnesty pardon and the reason all those millions under us in the lower states are not felons.

    Tofu,

Why do you hate Southerners? Is it because they by and large hold moral values you despise?

Also, Tofu, to change the born in America, automatic citizenship takes a Constitutional Amendment. This is not something Bush or Clinton can change by Presidential order. So, get your BDS treated. Your hate is going to kill you, not people you piss off with your hateful treatment.

20- I too would like a national id, but for whatever reason, it is racist, taxing on people and just like Nazi Germany:?::wink: Yes all those arguements have been made(not by you)

Automatic citizenship for an illegals child? There is talk of changing that to your way, with the right of the child being that they can be full citizens but not their parent. Therefore, they can leave the child here with a legal family and have that child grow up in this country, or that child can go back to their parents homeland and then return when they are an adult.

As to the Amnesty after the Civil War, or even the Vietnam War, we are still talking about American citizen’s.
