Sicko…See It For Free?

By: Pam On: Jun/18/07 - 29 Comments

“I don’t agree with the copyright laws and I don’t have a problem with people downloading the movie and sharing it with people,” said Moore when asked about pirating. “I make these books and movies and TV shows because I want things to change, so the more people that get to see them the better, so I’m happy when that happens. I think information and art, ideas should be shared.”

Said Michael Moore.   I am sure that Bob and Havey Weinstein would disagree with this as they are the ones paying for the distibution.  Click here to watch it if you want.

Thanks to Allahpundit for the heads up on this.

The sicko is Michael Moore. The man is truly sick to think his lies should go unchallenged.

I find it so ridiculous when people attack Moore over non-issues. None of you have even seen the latest film, which apparently has no partisan bias. So unless you are some major shareholder in the death-by-spreadsheet healthcare industry who profits from denying care to the sick, maybe you should wait until you see it before attacking.

Judging from Moore’s past “documentaries”, I’ll have to pass.

Although, it was fun watching F 9/11. A friend rented it and watched it with about a dozen people, so I sat there with the remote systematically debunking each part for them all.

“Documentary” indeed… aren’t the supposed to contain facts?

Toasted….I read his anti american, anti semitic rants on the Al Jeezera website. I don’t need to go any further. His credibility, imo, is in the toilet.

Exactly Ted. By definition a documentary is a fact based story. Moore was certainly free to say whatever he wanted but it was false advertising to say it was a documentary.

That’s exactly the problem with Moore. While I have no doubt the American health care system is in trouble, Moore has no credibility.
Accordingly, anything he produces is really a waste of time. Even basic assertions used as argumentive foundation would have to be verified before proceeding. I’d rather start with someone who has credibility.

8- “I’d rather start with someone who has credibility.”

Problem is, on most fronts, those with ‘credibility’ lack voice in the general media. Moore has a lot of serious and credible health care industry workers behind him on this project. You can hate the man, but still appreciate the message.

9, Moore is a flat out liar and has been caught in his lies. Tofu, I think you are a person who can’t distinguish between truth and a lie.

10- Perhaps, but him taking on the broken for-profit US health care industry should be worthy of a viewing. No matter though, it’s going to get a shitload of viewings with or without your support.

Good comparison Rocky. Maybe it’s just me but I fail to see where the US has a health care problem. 260 million people are able to buy into a health insurance plan and the other 40 million fall into one of a couple categories. Those being temporarily out of a health care system, the population of welfare wannabe’s who won’t work and illegal aliens. Given that hospitals are under obligation to treat EVERYONE who comes into their hospitals for treatments no one loses. So what’s the beef?

11- “Perhaps, but him taking on the broken for-profit US health care industry should be worthy of a viewing.”

So let me get this straight TT, and correct me if I am wrong.

You are endorsing the use of lies to “take on” an industry that you have a dislike for?

“No matter though, it’s going to get a shitload of viewings with or without your support.”

And let me get this correct too TT. You endorse the spread of lies to miseducate people on a topic as long as it fits your agenda?

11, Tofu, you are an idiot. Why would I want to give such a pathological liar the time of day let alone waste my time watching a pack of lies that have already been exposed, debunked, and ridiculed?

#13 My beef and what I see as wrong is that costs are up every year in double-digit percentages, 3-4x the rate of inflation. I don’t know exactly why this is so; perhaps it is because the costs of new procedures and equipment is so high, or because the hospitals are charging more to cover those who can’t pay, or the fact that fear of malpractice causes Doctors to routinely order many more tests that would ordinarily be necessary just to cover their butts against malpractice; probably all of the above.

    My formula for reform:

    1. Get the lawyers out of the system.
    2. Send the illegals home.
    3. Find a way to simplify and streamline the system. When you have a claim these days there is so much paperwork back and forth between the provider and your insurance. That all costs money to process. There’s got to be a better way.

16, Robert you missed a cost escalator, the unions baking a cake with the Democrat party. SEIU local 199 is striking a local hospital demanding forced dues from the 2/3rds of the nurse population that do not belong to the union. Increased unions dues and administration fees the hospital has to pay drive up the patients’ bills.

Now, not only has the shyster, Braley, who represents Iowa’s 1st district, but HILLARY CLINTON has stuck their noses into this issue demanding the hospital cave in to the union.

I remind you. The union only represents 1/3 of the nurses. The NLRB is stalling recognizing the Decertification petition.

I see what you’re saying Robert and I agree. Too many lawsuits with only about .0001% actually legitimate claims and way too many freebies.

I’m not so sure you could take a bureaucracy as big as the health care system and streamline it though. It would take effort and concession on alot of different peoples part and I’m not sure you could get that kind of cooperation.

As for the costs, I guess I hadn’t realized but I will say this much. My mom is on the new medicaid program where her meds, therapy, etc. are subsidized for her and all she had to do was fill out a two page form. It is very helpful to her given she is on a fixed income. BTW, this was a republican reform and it appears to work.

4- Did you miss the part where you were offered the chance to see it for free?

which apparently has no partisan bias

Did you watch it or did you just read that?

    9-

Moore has a lot of serious and credible health care industry workers behind him on this project.

    Examples? Who is behind him?

    11-

broken for-profit US health care industry

Broken? How so?  I have no problems when I go to use my health insurance.  Preventative healthcare covered at all times.  The final out of pocket excluding funeral for my Mother was 82 cents.

PCD you have identified another reason for the costs, and with regard to the Trial Lawyers, yet another way in which “the party of the common people” is screwing the common people. The Democrites have stonewalled any meaningful attempts at Tort reform every time and everywhere it has been tried.

Yet the DemokRat party, with some of the richest people in Congress, continues to sell the Big Lie that they are for the common man.

BonBon you’re probably right it is a dream and fantasy to expect that these huge entities could make themselves smaller. I don’t know how much it could be simplified without going to the socialized care that other countries have.

That doesn’t answer my question. Apply it to F9/11 if you wish, or assume that is does for the sake of the question. The questions focus isn’t about the film.

    Please don’t dodge the question.

How can you expect anyone to legitimately consider your expressed opinions when you seem to endorse such actions?
