Thanks to Michelle for pointing out the latest example of the irrelevancy of Jesse Jackson! A black man is killed by black gang members, so naturally Jesse goes after the gun shop owner! The victim was Blair Holt, 16, of Chicago, who is the son of Ronald Holt, a Chicago Police gang-crimes officer, and Annette Holt, a captain with the Chicago Fire Department. Too bad Jesse didn’t take the time to read War among blacks is too easy to ignore; Stop the killing — before we lose yet another young life. Please read the article, but I will leave you with this:
Blair’s final act of heroism stands in stark contrast to Pace’s alleged wanton act of terrorism, and it is the clearest evidence yet that there is a war going on in the African-American community.This is a class conflict that pits brothers against brothers and neighbors against neighbors; and because the enemy looks likes us, walks like us and talks like us, it is easy to ignore the battle lines.
But know this: This war has already claimed some of the brightest stars in our families. And many of the future victims of this war will embody all of the hopes we have for the future of the black race.
I look at my 6-year-old grandson and cringe knowing that unless the God-fearing and decent among us find a way to win this war, one day I will be sending him to the front lines against black children who — for whatever reason — have already lost their souls.
“They’re just children,” noted Ronald Holt, Blair’s father, when the two suspects were arrested. “You wonder where it comes from. What causes a child to wantonly and blatantly hatch such an ill-conceived plan? To go out and do something like this? What makes them do it?”
We are shell-shocked by what has happened to the Holt family. But it is with them — it is for us — that we must take a stand.
In this war we have to decide which side we’re on: the side of the law, or the side of the gangs. If that means turning our back on a family member, so be it.
We have to make ending gang and gun violence our movement and our cause.

What gun laws would’ve stopped a 15 yr old and a 16 yr old from getting hold of a handgun? That’s only been illegal since probably before their parents were born. (See Gun Control Act of 1968) Why would anyone think that another law to supposedly stop them from getting a gun would work when the one that’s 39 yrs old hasn’t worked? For that matter why would anyone think that a gun control law would stop someone intent on committing MURDER? Last I checked murder was pretty much against the law in every jurisdiction in this country.
You do know what the NRA’s position on this would be don’t you? Where did the 15 yr old get a handgun? and if it was given to him, why isn’t the person who gave it to him sitting in jail as well? The NRA supports criminal control, not gun control. One thing to keep in mind is, to paraphrase a t-shirt on Cafepress, over 89 million law abiding gun owners DIDN’T shoot anyone yesterday.

Give us time, and I swear to god we will take your guns away from you. Slowly and legally. But it will happen.
There is no good reason what-so-ever for you, an American citizen, to own a handgun. Hunting Rifle, maybe…but with very strict ownership permits. Handguns? Nope. Gone. For cops only.

(BTW, I was able to sqeeze off a few rounds from a sig-something-or-other 9mm handgun the other week up in the Stanislaus National Forest…and I gotta admit ot felt awesome.
Even my “hippie” wife got to fire a few rounds!
Still, I think they should be made illegal.)

The NRA supports criminal control, not gun control- Exactly FAO…and we can take the guns away on a turn in basis, but guess what, those that want them are going to get them…

Yeah- becasue that worked so well with alcohol and drugs.
A 15 or 16 year old would posses the guns illegally to begin with. I know of 15 and 16 year olds that obtain already illegal fully automatic AK-47’s. If they can do this, then they would still be able to obtain handguns with ease.

The protection of the US is for the federal armed forces. heritage and ancestry can be changed. self protection will be found in law and order, and paid police professionals.

Conservatives and Republicans have been attempting to do just that for quite some time. Liberals and Democrats (who were recently elected to majorities in both houses of congress) are here to stop whatever stunt the “right” tries pull on this beloved country.

You just don’t understand the numbers. More guns = more gun deaths. Less guns = less gun deaths. Look at the violent death numbers of european countries that ban guns.
That’s fine, this will gun ban would be known to be a long term event. The government can wait people like you out for decades if it has to. You won’t be able to shoot them after not too long, where will you buy the ammo once it’s banned?
