Full story

We’ve arrived at yet another teachable moment in the war. The West has been distracted for years by the leftwing shibboleth that poverty and adverse conditions, as opposed to a religion and an ideology, are at the roots of terrorism. Those doctors who plotted to blow up London and the Glasgow airport provide powerful evidence to the contrary: It’s not the poverty, stupid. A savvy administration that actually knows how to lead could have used this moment to remind us all that it’s the ideology that drives the enemy in this war, and that the doctors are just the latest in a long string of evidence to that effect. Starting with millionaire Osama bin Laden and working through Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri to several of the 9-11 hijackers and on to these doctors, an awful lot of terrorists come from middle class or better backgrounds, and are professionals. They’re not poor in anything but their humanity.

    A mental no-jihad zone
Diana West (via Michelle Malkin) has a must-read column about the pathetic inability of westerners to clearly identify jihadis as what they are

It’s not hard to identify islamofascist terrorists as such. They’re the miscreant product of a bunch of radical imams from an immature religion. A religion that once lead the world in science and medicine and got along well with others, but has been besmirched by the actions of a small radical minority and the tacit consent to their actions by the rest.

Were they simply acting out on their fundamentalist beliefs as the Christians did with swords and spears during the Crusades or 30 Years War, they’d be little more than a nuisance. However, since they are trying to impose their will using 20th century versus 16th century weaponry their capacity to cause death and destruction is greatly escalated. Should they obtain access to an atomic (Hiroshima), radiological (in abstract think Chernobyl) or Nuclear (Hiroshima to a power of 1000) weapon, they have already said that they intend to detonate it in the US and as long as we continue to argue about closing our borders, instead of doing it, their odds of succeeding improve daily.

As the 9/11 commission put it, it’s not a matter of whether we will be hit again, it’s a matter of when.

    Offcr,

I beg to differ with you, it’s not a “small radical minority”.. it’s the MAJORITY.

don’t fall for that liberal propaganda, when the WTC came down…hundreds of thousands, possibly millions of animal muslims the world over were smiling, passing out candy, dancing in the streets and wearing Obama… I mean Osama Bin Laden T-shirts.

    minority my arse.
