Bad news for people who love bad news
The risks for Democratic doom-criers are becoming evident. The accumulating evidence of progress, little by little, is changing public opinion. Media opinion will follow, slowly as always, and the sluggard notabilities of press and screen will be tugged ” “kicking and screaming,” as the liberals once said of conservatives ” into reality. The Democrats in Congress, like the embittered losers on the left, will be left behind on the other side of the famous bridge to the 21st century.
Cautious optimism is reflected in curious places. “The new U.S. military strategy in Iraq, unveiled six months ago to little acclaim, is working,” the Associated Press ” no particular friend of George W. Bush ” reports. The usual caveats follow: “It’s a phase with fresh promise yet the same old worry: Iraq may be too fractured to make whole.” And this: the U.S. military “cannot guarantee victory.” And this: “… it is far from certain that [the Iraqis] are capable of putting this shattered country together again.” American commanders are “clinging to a hope.” And “there is no magic formula for success.” Duh.
You must read the entire piece from start to finish!

The Defeatocrats just can’t accept victory in any way, shape or form.

I’ve noticed a marked abscence of leftist posters here of late. I wonder if they went scambling for a different flavor Kool-aid?

Hi Ted…I think they just can’t argue the truth any longer. I mean look at whats been said and done lately by the lefties. Everything from refusing to pass legislation on the FISA court to Obama’s ignorant remark.

“I’ve noticed a marked abscence of leftist posters here of late.”
Oh, I come by once and awhile to take a look.
I’ve kind of “grown out of” arguing on the internet with conservatives…it’s pretty much a waste of time and is pointless. It’s not even a good intellectual excersise anymore because it’s just way to easy to tear down the average wacko-righty argument.
I do like to read up on what you wingnuts are saying now and then, here at RV.
I’m an occasional lurker on the conservative FreeRepublic website…they make me laugh just about as much as the gang here does.
It’s all in good fun. Can’t take this internet/politics stuff too seriously…

Liberals are in a good position right now.
The Conservative Movement of the 80’s/90’s is in shambles, or at the very least, weakened into a shadow of its former self…
The Republican presidential field is pathetic.
The Iraq War is exactly the way opposition Liberals said it would be since the begining – wastefull and useless.
American public opinion is strongly against the war and a large majority agrees with liberals that we shouldn’t have gone there in the first place.
Liberals control both houses of congress with a slim majority, that will only get LARGER with the next election. Yes, larger.
The Democrats are practicaly getting the White House handed to them on a platter by none other than George W. Bush for his incompatence and irresponsibility.
I can’t really complain about too much nowadays.
Things seem to be going better for Liberals…
Oh, and I quit my office job and am going back to university this fall to get my teaching credential. I want to teach High School History and Social Studies.
Ha. Imagine that. SF Lib speading liberal propaganda to thousands of teenagers over the coming years.
I can’t wait!

Sounds great about teaching high school history. But don’t you have to learn some first?

9, Robert, SFL isn’t about teaching real history. He wants to just spread his propaganda and Homosexual agenda.

I agree with you 100%. It easy to break down any wacko extremist arguement though, including the average liberal’s arguements.
“I’m an occasional lurker on the conservative FreeRepublic website:they make me laugh just about as much as the gang here does.”
Yeah- Freepers are amazing aren’t they? Democratic Underground is another extreme sight you should do the same to. Lurking there is hilarious too- DU’s have a pretty twisted view of the world. Those two sites are my fav’s for doing that.
“It’s all in good fun. Can’t take this internet/politics stuff too seriously:”
Good philosophy.
Re 8:
I think you are wearing rose colored glasses when you created that post.
“American public opinion is strongly against the war and a large majority agrees with liberals that we shouldn’t have gone there in the first place.”
American public opinion has gone back to a 49/51 split regarding the war since Patreus has taken over and there is good news regarding progress, which is a trend I predicted. If the Septemeber report is good, then that trend will continue.
It isn’t that folks are against this war- it is that folks are against the way it is being handled.
Couple this with the horrible rastings Congress is getting and I wouldn’t be too confident if I were you regarding that margin getting larger, or even existing.
Regarding the Presidential Candidate- I agree that the Republican feild is weak. However, the Democrat feild is even weaker. History has shown (specifically the last 2 Presidential elections) what happens when this is the case- in both instances the Republucans won.
Your party has a tough row to hoe here SFL, especially since you have a minority and a woman as your two front runners. I just don’t see the win you are predicting, especially if Guiliani (a social liberal that would sap left leaning moderate votes from the Dems) gets the nod for Republicans.

Good posts Ted however I disagree on your assessment of weak Republican candidates. I think it is the best selection since the Reagan days. I like Giuliani, Romney, and even McCain although he’s the weakest. If Thompson came in I believe he is a strong candidate as well. The only really weak candidate I see is Tancredo and thats only because he seems to be one issued.
This is the first election I actually feel as though I have a good choice and will support fully the parties choice.
