Haditha Update: Charges dropped against two Marines

By: Pam On: Aug/9/07 - 7 Comments

Will Jack apologise?

Charges against Lance Cpl. Justin Sharratt and Capt. Randy Stone were dismissed based on a review of the facts in the case, Lt. Gen. James Mattis said in a statement.

Sharratt and Stone were among eight U.S. Marines originally charged in the Haditha case, which stemmed from the death of 24 men, women and children in the western Iraqi town. Sharratt was charged with unpremeditated murder and Stone with dereliction of duty.

Why were the charges dropped?

In his recommendation, Lt. Col. Paul Ware said murder charges brought against Sharratt were based on unreliable witness accounts, poor forensic evidence and questionable legal theories.

“The government version is unsupported by independent evidence,” Ware wrote in an 18-page report. “To believe the government version of facts is to disregard clear and convincing evidence to the contrary.”

Bryan asks: Well, Jack. What say you now?

    From the Reuters-article:
“Dela Cruz told a military court in May that he watched his squad leader, Sgt. Frank Wuterich, shoot down five Iraqi civilians who were trying to surrender.”

If it wasn’t related to the murder of 5 people this would be a real good joke: “Wuterich” is a German word for berserker!!! =))

    Mattias,

The case is falling apart. Oh, I forgot, Herr Doktor hasn’t discharged you yet.

    Peejz,
Many of your links are not working. It would appear that folks like Murtha and Matthias are once again jumping to ill founded conclusions.

    Matthais,
Even when the evidence does not suppoort the charges you still yell “foul”. Your anti military bigotry is alarming.

I’ve also been meaning to ask: you once said anyone over a corporal in rank who is in the German Army are idiots, but you also said you father held the rank of sergeant? This really clarifies your anti-military bigotry- Frued would call it an Oedipus Complex.

Was this the case about which John “In Cold Blood” Murtha accused the Marines of murder before the investigation was even complete?

If so, this should be on every front page, should lead every newscast. Murtha should be forced to admit that he was wrong, that he is an ass, and that he is a traitor to the Marine Corps, to his fellow vets, and to the U.S. He should then beg for forgiveness, resign from Congress, and never darken the door of the national consciousness again.

He is an utter disgrace, part of what is wrong with Politics in America today. And what party does he belong to? That’s right, the Disgrace party, the Degenerate party, the Defeatism party. The party of perjury and treason. Why anyone could support such a party is why they say truth is stranger than fiction.

I was talking to a friend from West Virginia and he’s just disgusted with his fellow West Virginia’s constant voting for Dems without having a clue what they’re actually doing in Congress.
