CIA Report:Clinton CIA had no plan to deal with bin Laden
# U.S. spy agencies, which were overseen by Tenet, lacked a comprehensive strategic plan to counter Osama bin Laden prior to 9/11. The inspector general concluded that Tenet “by virtue of his position, bears ultimate responsibility for the fact that no such strategic plan was ever created.”
# The CIA’s analysis of al-Qaida before Sept. 2001 was lacking. No comprehensive report focusing on bin Laden was written after 1993, and no comprehensive report laying out the threats of 2001 was assembled. “A number of important issues were covered insufficiently or not at all,” the report found.
Bryan has more coverage, but points out that “It doesn’t jibe with what former Secretary of State Madeline Albright testified before the 9-11 Commission.”
Albright told the 9/11 commission the Clinton administration did everything it could to defeat al-Qaeda and would have killed Osama bin Laden if officials had better intelligence.
“President Clinton and his team did everything we could, everything we could think of, based on the knowledge we had, to protect our people and disrupt and defeat al-Qaeda,” Albright said.

I am no fan of Bill Clinton (worst President since Jimmy Carter, and top 5 worse of the 20th century IMO), but why does this have any significance? He was following the same terrorist policy of the pevious 30+ years of presidents.
I do recoginize that Albright seem to have lied regarding it, and that was wrong. Otherwise, this seems to be a non-story.

Ted, one of the “hammers” the Democrats have been using to undermine the President from 9/12/01 was that Clinton had a plan to handle the terrorists and W was not following the plan. The Democrats testified to this at the 9/11 commission and before Congress. IT WAS ALL A LIE.
This is what makes it a story, and that the fact it showed up in the MSM.

Well, I remember Clinton saying that in his interview with Wallace, but I don’t recall any other Dems making that claim besides Albright and the most deluded Clintonistas.
Granted, it is revisionist history from those few select folks. But I just don’t see any significance, really. As I said, even if he wasn’t he was just following precedence.

I disagree.
Most Democrats are Joe Lunchbox, just like most Republicans are Joe Lunchbox. Most are just intersted in thge truth, just like you PCD. I routinely and rationally have discussions with them- they are some of my neighbors and friends.
It is the party elitist of both sides that are revisionists, along with those few memebers of the fringe.

6, Ted, you are welcome to come to Dubuque where the local convent are radical nuns, including the Hennessey sisters who get arrested yearly down at the “School of the Americas”, where Teamsters came from Chicago to advise Eagle Window and Door workers to vote for the union, and a former mayor writes an letter to the editor saying in effect that those who walk away from the union, striking UPS drivers, deserve to get “peeled”.

I am not familiar with any of those references or what they mean, but if you are living in a communuty of radicals then vote with your feet. The radicals of the Democratic party no more represent Dems than the radical religious right and Pat Roberstson represent the Joe Lunchbox Republican.
It is amazing to me how folks demonize “them” just because of a political belief. That is HOW one become a radical themself.

It is news because it contradicts what the MSM has been telling mainstreet America. This revelation came as quite a shock to many on the left (that I know), and needless to say, it made them very uncomfortable. The majority of Americans don’t blog, they watch the news or read the newspapers…This is quite a departure from what they believed…Yet Tenet got that medal…
