The left is having a field day with this, but me? Mild amusement. I agree with Wizbang:
The New York Times hates him Democratic Senator Carl Levin and Republican Senator John Warner have called for his ouster. Hilliary says she wants him gone and the NYT has another hit piece on him this morning.
So we have every reason to believe he must be a doing a great job.
Michael Goldfarb wants you to look at what’s missing from the report:
So, on the one hand we have an NIE stating that Syria still supports non-al Qaeda groups in Iraq, with no mention of the Assad regime’s complicity in al Qaeda’s terror. And on the other hand we have Senator Lieberman’s reference to “recently declassified American intelligence” indicating the precise opposite.
It would be interesting to learn what intelligence Senator Lieberman is referring to and why it wasn’t included in the NIE’s Key Judgments. In the meantime, based on all of the open source reporting I’ve seen on the topic, I am inclined to believe that Senator Lieberman is right. It is hard to believe that al Qaeda terrorists are transiting through Damascus International Airport without, at the very least, the Assad regime’s approval.

As we are so honored. We already ‘won’ the mission. Remove Saddam from power and secure his WMDs. Mission accomplished, and thanks to our military for making it happen! You did you jobs, now you can come back to your homes (if they are still there) and your families (if they are still there) and your jobs (if they are still there).

Air France, Alitalia, and the atrocious BMED) also fly to Tehran. The US still has an active embassy in Syria, but we haven’t directly dealt with Iran in nearly 30 years. Seems an odd measure.
