Move On: “General Petraeus or General Betray us? Cooking the books for the White House.”

Today – as General David Petraeus provides his Iraq assessment to Congress-the anti-war group, MoveOn.org, is running a full – page advertisement in the New York Times with the headline: General Petraeus or General Betray us? Cooking the books for the White House.

Let’s be clear: MoveOn.org is suggesting that General Petraeus has ‘betrayed’ his country. This is disgusting. To attack as a traitor an American general commanding forces in war, because his ‘on the ground’ experience does not align with MoveOn.org’s political objectives, is utterly shameful. It shows contempt for America’s military leadership, as well as for the troops who have confidence in him, as our fellow soldiers in Iraq certainly do.

General Petraeus has served this country for over 35 years with honor, distinction, and integrity. And this is not just about General Petraeus. After all, if General Petraeus is “cooking the books,” then the entire military chain of command in Baghdad, and all the staff, military and civilian, who have been working with General Petraeus are complicit, since Petraeus did not write his report in isolation. They are all, apparently, ‘betray[ing] us.’

MoveOn.org has been working closely with the Democratic congressional leadership – as an article in today’s Sunday New York Times Magazine makes clear. And consider this comment by a Democratic senator from Friday’s Politico: “‘No one wants to call [Petraeus] a liar on national TV,’ noted one Democratic senator, who spoke on the condition on anonymity. ‘The expectation is that the outside groups will do this for us.’MoveOn.org has helped frame the core choice: Whom do we trust to run this war – MoveOn.org and its allies in Congress, or Gen. David Petraeus and his colleagues?

MoveOn is unable to engage in substantive debate over the relative merits of the surge, let along the nuances of what is a very complex – and critical – situation in Iraq. Instead, they personally, and publically, attack the credibility of an American general on the battlefield. How much lower can MoveOn sink?

It has been long time to call Democrats, especially George Soros funded Democrats, on their patriotism and allegiance to Al Qaeda.

I just heard what Rep. Tom Lantos just said. To put it as politely as I can right now, that scumbucket ought to be shipped back to Hungary.

Everyone in the minority who supports this filthy war should be shipped to Iraq…

PCD…when will you sign up and ship out?

I hear they’re lowering army standards, so you actually might have a shot at getting in.

I know you want to kill some muslims, don’t you?

    well….what are you waiting for?

The minority are the ones that don’t support the war..

Why should PCD be forced to sign up? Your friend wasn’t forced to SFL, he chose to sign up..big difference. Too bad you don’t recognize that.

Exactly, my friend choose to sign up (well, he went to West Point in 1994) and he piad for it with his life.

And now his wife and son are left without a father and husband.

And for what? Iraqi Civil War?

    No thanks.

And remember Peejz, a majority of americans view the Iraq War as a mistake, so yes…you are in the minority of american opinion if you think it was not a mistake to go to Iraq.

PCD should sign up, Peejz, because he is such a vocal supporter of the war.

He talks the talk, but he isn’t walking the walk.

Sign up, man…if you support the mission so much. (!)

6, maybe I ought to start by killing AlQaeda supporters in the US starting with YOU! Is that what you want, creep?

What do you do for your security? What do you really contribute to the country except more problems? HUH! Answer you %$%$#%$#$#%5!

Tomorrow, 9/11/07 is Patriot Day. Maybe the Patriotic thing to do is BOMB San Francisco off the map and start asking libs like SFL, “Who wants to be next?”

Well you have a point there PCD…..San Francisco’s population don’t seem too interested in protecting this great country. Oh and San Fran I’m really sorry to hear about your friend but you know there will be many, many more deaths not only in America but worldwide if we don’t take the lead in solving the threat of terrorism.

I know you don’t believe it and I’m glad there are only a few deniers like yourself. We need people with smarts to get us through this. For that, you and others who refuse to admit this world has a problem, just don’t qualify.

“Everyone in the minority who supports this filthy war should be shipped to Iraq:”

Everyone who has been undermining the WOT, advocating for “rights” for the terrorists, insulting and disparaging our troops, generating propaganda for the enemy, providing political aupport and aid and comfort for the enemy, and placing poliitics and their desire for power above the national interests should be shipped to the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Now this would include about 70% of the Democrite leadership;Chapatraitor, “In Cold Blood” Murtha, Turban Durbin, and “Terrorizing Women and Children” Kerry to name a few.

Mmm-Hmm. Try running for office on that.

You bet we are. We just wouldn’t go about the way you folks are. For starters, we wouldn’t have invaded a muslim nation that wasn’t involved in 9/11. We probably wouldn’t have increased the ranks of the terrorists (like you people have) with our actions, either.

    12. I disagree. Your city has done everything possible to undermine national security. As for the rest, well you can sit back and let things happen while you preach love, peace and all the rest until your dead. The adults will handle the weapons and protect us.

    er…not really.

The facts are that San Francisco city government has actively sought to disparage the military and refuse to allow it into the city. Exactly how does that translate into supporting the troops? They have actively worked to undermine federal immigration law in a manner that assists wannabe terrorists to have free run of the city without fear of facing discovery. The city council and residents sought to disarm the populace in a manner that even the City Attorney knew was unconstitutional and therefore a waste of taxpayers’ money. Had this action been allowed to stand, the city would’ve been a ripe fruit waiting for the criminal/ terrorist element to pluck it.

San Fran, as I have said in other posts, I do not know what has been your problem of late, but your posts have been absolutely juvenile the last few weeks. YOU ARE BETTER THAN THAT! You have stated your positions in a clear, logical (even if Naive) discourse in the past. Please return to doing so and stop resorting to childish comments. They not only don’t bolster your position, they weaken it.
