By Michelle Malkin:

The demonstrators are putting the “I will not submit” rallying cry into action, and the dhimmis are cracking down on them. Baron Bodissey continues his wall-to-wall coverage.

The ever-vigilant Brussels Journal has eyewitness reports.

Jim Hoft is tracking the beatdown.

Here’s the BBC report:

  • Police in the Belgian capital, Brussels, have arrested two far-right political leaders at a protest against the “Islamisation of Europe”.

Police clashed with some of the 200 demonstrators and dozens more people were reported to have been arrested.

The mayor of Brussels had banned the protest, held on the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the US.

Frank Vanhecke and Filip Dewinter of the Vlaams Belang (Flemish Interest) party were arrested.

Vlaams Belang has been critical of Muslim immigration to Belgium.

The mayor of Brussels, Freddy Thielemans, banned the protest last month for fear it would cause problems with the city’s immigrant population.

  • More here.

Where are all the free-speech zealots when you need them?

Marisol at Jihad Watch shreds the mayor’s fear card:

  • Are they more afraid of the protest, or that certain offended members of the populace might use it as a pretext to stage an attack?

“We support the goals of the demonstration to protest against the lack of freedom of expression in this country,” said Frank Vanhecke, the head of the Flemish Interest Party, before he was bundled off to the police station. “And we also we fully agree that the rise of Islam in Europe poses a risk to our values.

  • You’ll note, by the way, that almost every MSM article refers to Vlaams Belang as “far right.”

The open-borders European press and politicians use the same demonization tactics against immigration enforcement proponents abroad as they do here:even as they watch their nations’ sovereignty crumble before their eyes.

Like Toynbee said: “Civilizations die from suicide, not by murder.”

    ***

    More blog coverage:

More pics at this Flickr page via The Center for Vigilant Freedom.
Brian Ledbetter ruminates on the degeneration of the West:

  • There is absolutely no way we will win the war against militant Islam if we continue to believe in nothing. Take Vlaams Belang’s latest outburst in Brussels, for instance:”A political party in Belgium wished to express their deep dissatisfaction with the European Union’s coddling policy towards militant Muslims, in the form of an organised protest in the streets of Belgium, the capital of Brussels.

Following the laws of the West, the jurisdiction of which have been relentlessly extended as a result of our continuing and foolish reliance on “Progressivism,” they applied for a permit to exercise their right to assemble.

Their permit was denied by the mayor, who felt it would be too “inflammatory” to allow them to speak. And, when a handful of Belang supporters tried to do so anyway, they were summarily rounded up and arrested.

So there you have it:”in the heart of the European Union, which is in theory a group of federated nations that believe in the “freedoms” of the West (heck, Christian Europe is the very origination of these freedoms), we are denying our own freedoms”wantonly stifling the debate of our own native citizens, whilst formally resisting any attempt to suppress murderous speech which is spoken against us.

A nation that believes in nothing will always lose to an enemy that believes in something.

    Always.

Isn’t it funny that since police departments have been told that using black targets for firearms training is racially insensitive, they’ve gone to UN blue?

Why do liberals look at failed organizations and demand they be expanded without realizing that the reason the organization failed was because its very premise flies in the face of logic or human nature?

When looking into the Wiki entry of the Flemish Interest Party and the list of its political targets, with crap like:

-Full and unconditional amnesty for people convicted for collaboration with Nazi Germany after World War II.

-Repeal of the anti-racism and anti-discrimination legislations on the grounds of free speech.

,I think that these are the kind of people, that not even you will be associated with as “brothers in spirit”…

3, Mattias, anyone and everyone can put crap in Wikipedia. Try finding something from the party in question if you want to influence us.

You make the mistake of peddling your crap without thinking can this be verified from sources other people believe.

If you want to be taken seriously, try answering that question before you post. If you can’t get beyond your nutroots crap, you have no hope of convincing anyone that you are even sane.

4- From the website of the party itself on its political program( http://www.vlaamsbelang.be/21/1/ and http://www.vlaamsbelang.be/21/2/ ):

      1) “VLAAMSE STAAT
      g. Amnestie.

I don’t speak flemish (that’s why I referred to Wiki), but obviously the first paragraph refers to some amnesty in context of WWII and the second to freedom of speech in context of a trial on racism…

      Any questions? :-?

#2: “Why do liberals look at failed organizations and demand they be expanded without realizing that the reason the organization failed was because its very premise flies in the face of logic or human nature?”

The only satisfactory explanation that covers the many levels and wide range of situations in which this behavior occurs is that Liberalism is a form of mental illness.

Seriously. It is a form of psychosis.

7- Apart from the fact that again you declare Muslims and Terrorists once again as being the same people, how would you feel if in the US extremists would demonstrate against the “Christianization of America”?

Are the basics of democracy like freedom of speech or freedom of religion only valid if they serve your views?

Mattias, here’s a little something for your little mind to think about.

      To Kill an American
You probably missed this in the rush of news, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper, an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.

So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American is . So they would know when they found one. (Good one, mate!!!!)

‘An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An Ameri can may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani or Afghan.

An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans.

An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses.

An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world.

The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence , which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.

An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return.

When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country!

As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan Americans welcome the best of everything…the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best services. But they also welcome the least.

The national symbol of America , The Statue of Liberty , welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America

Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. It’s been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists.

So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself . Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.

    11. Matthias Roggenbuck
      September 12, 2007 - 08:23 AM on September 12th, 2007

10 -”You probably missed this in the rush of news, but there was actually a report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper, an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.”

I didn’t knew this yet. This displays a disgusting, perverted and distorted mind- in any sense!

“An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses.”

So, you DO know what I am saying over and over again. The best allies in the war against terror are the ones who share the religion of the terrorists (and those ones who are in danger of becoming terrorists) and who may teach them that their inhuman “interpretation” of Islam is wrong, wrong and wrong!

I hate Bin Laden at least as much as you do- because he succeeded in bringing a deep rift between Christians and Muslims.

      12- …that is your interpretation.

My wife and her family for example (they may forgive me the insight in their personal views) deeply reject the current Turkish government and the newly elected president (whose wife openly wears a veil), because they are weakening the secular principle which was introduced by the founder of modern Turkeye Mustafa Kemal.

The way they hate Christianity and any decent, evolved, civilized religion, you’d think they would be even more intolerant of the Jihadists. Yet they seem to want to all they can to help the Jihadists.

I heard one liberal just a couple of weeks ago accuse Bush of causing the uncivil attidudes Americans hold in society. Then he went on to say that Bush is a dictator who wants to change America to a theocracy. I thought we had been having a civil debate but of course after this I ended the conversation. It was just too much to bear.

      Yes, but why bother?

Your “characterizations” are JUST AS ACCURATE when flipped around from us to you.

It’s actually kind of funny how it works that way…

I say it over and over and over again, but we feel the EXACT same way about your team as you do mine.

“Then he went on to say that Bush is a dictator who wants to change America to a theocracy.”

      —————–

That’s a bit of a stretch and an exageration, but it it’s in the right ballpark.

Republicans have ruled almost without resraint from 2001 to 2006, and whatever Bush wanted from congress – Patriot Act, etc…he got. Those opposed had little congressional recourse…the Dems just didn’t have the votes to fight back. So there is the “dictator” part explained.

As far as the theocracy part, again its an exageration but is in the right ballpark…

Faith-Based initiatives, Republican school voucher support (sending tax dollars to private christian schools), your party’s opposition to female reproductive rights, and your push to allow christian prayer in public school leads MANY PEOPLE to believe that you righties, and Bush especially, want an modern american theocracy.

So while this liberal exagerated the threat a bit, he’she was pretty much right on target.

(I hope that helps you digest what they said to you a bit better, but I doubt it.)

San Fran, anyone claiming that the Conservatives are pushing for a theocracy needs to pick up a dictionary or a history book and do a little reading. There is currently only one theocracy on this planet, and that’s Iran. (Though the FLDS church has a pretty close approximation set up in northern Az on the Utah border) A little history education would teach people that the first amendment of the Constitution wasn’t written to protect government from religion, but rather to protect religion from government. The phrase “separation of church and state” isn’t even in the Constitution. The next time some ill informed liberal starts making such inane comments, please correct them.

In fact, the colonies were founded by members of various religious sects for members of those sects. Pennsylvania was granted to the Quakers, Maryland to the Catholics, Massachusetts to the Puritans, and Rhode Island was founded by a brother and sister who were kicked out of Massachusetts because of their beliefs. They may have been Methodists. It’s been a few years since my last American History class.
