Vietnam Memorial Defaced By Anti War Protestors
Over the weekend, something happened here at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC. Something destructive. Something dishonorable. Along the foot of the wall, covering a stretch almost two-thirds of the entire monument, an oily substance was spilled on the panels and paving stones that were built to pay tribute to those who gave their lives on the battlefield.
The National Park Service is investigating. Whatever the substance was, it was potent and corrosive. Huge swaths of the wall have been defaced. This is despicable desecration.
Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund Founder and President Jan C. Scruggs said “While it is unclear what transpired, we are heartened by the response of the veterans’ community and the general public. After 25 years, their connection to The Wall remains as strong as ever, and we appreciate that.”
This vandalism comes on the eve of a massive anti-war protest by radicals who have threatened our national monuments before. Those threats motivated veterans, Rolling Thunder members, and military supporters to organize the first Gathering of Eagles. On Saturday, they’ll be back:to protect the honor of the troops and the sacred monuments and war memorials in the nation’s capital.
We’ll be there. Will you? Go to gatheringofeagles.org for more information.

The scum who did this should be made to clean it with a toothbrush and teacup and make them pay for the cleaning materials out of their own pockets and make them appoligise then SPANK THEIR NASTY REARS

It’s bad enough that the memorial itself is done in black signifying some dark, mistake America apparently made.

What an act of pure cowardice.
1.
I disagree. This calls for a charge of treason.
2.
I think the color is good- it’s solemn, and is after all, the same color we wear at funerals.

Great observation, BonBon!
America’s involvement in the civil war in vietnam REALLY WAS a dark mistake that our nation made, to the tune of 58,000+ dead Americans.

I will agree that it was a mistake, done in large part to satisfy our French “allies”; that being said, it was militarily won after Tet and should have been wrapped up.
Except that Walter Commiekite, Dan Blather, John Kerry, Jane Fonda, the MSM, and the American Left turned victory into defeat.

Hey there, ‘Right’ Voices, your headline for this post is “Vietnam Memorial Defaced By Anti War Protesters.” Just out of curiosity, how do YOU know that the vandalism was by anti war protesters when no one knows who did it? Nice try with the misdirection…

And the scum that defaced the memorial; if found I would feed them to the sharks.

yeah, that is pretty low.

This is the work of one antiwar group or another. They remind me of the antiwar protestors on campus while I was in ROTC. They were pretty vocal until I actually got within 30 ft. We were surveyed about our reaction to them. My response was why would I give any credibility to anyone so cowardly as to not say anything to my face unless they outnumbered me 15 to 1? These cowards need to be caught and treated to a unique experience. A summer boot camp at Parris Island. Give them the choice one of my NCOs received before enlisting. Three years in the military or three years in prison. Give them a little appreciation for our service members.

as a viet nam vet, this is not a slap in the face but a kick in the teeth to all who returned, to all of our brothers and sisters who died and to all who are still suffering.I just hope the scum who did this are found by the law first and not a VIET NAM VET.

This article simply mentions the vandalism, then mentions the anti-war protest as a total non-sequitor. It does nothing to prove that the two are connected. It’s a lazy and facile way to write a slanted article.

Hey there FrmrArtyOffcr:
How do you know that “this is the work of one anti-war group or another”? Or do you just want to assume that it is to fill some need? It may have been some stupid kids or maybe even some “war-supporters” trying to drum up some controversy. You say “anti-war” like it’s a bad thing. Every sane human being should be against armed conflict, especially an unnecessary one. I’ve been in a war before, I’m a FrmrInfOffcr. Is war necessary sometimes? Sure, but that doesn’t mean that we should revel in it. You can be anti-war but pro-troops. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Gee, I don’t know James..could it be that there was an anti-war protest in town at the time?
Unless of course you are the elected officials of the Democratic Party.

Pam: Sure there was. But just because someone was near an incident doesn’t mean that they are guilty. Our legal system is not Napoleonic. Way to lump in all Democrats together.
