You can catch it over the web if you’re not at home by clicking here. And to follow up on my earlier bleg, it looks like the Columbia speech at 1:30 will be carried on the website of CBS’s NY affiliate. I’ll post a reminder of that in the next hour.
MM and Bryan are stationed outside the campus and may ” may ” work up a livestream for us but you’ll have to make do with photos for now. And if you’re already Mahdi’d out and want a palate cleanser, here you go. It haunts my dreams

Don’t recognize Israel because they kill people and attack their neighbors..
Why are your visits to Ground Zero and Columbia so controversial? Everyone should have the capacity to listen to everything.

All in all, there was no challenging this man, it was ass kissing at it’s finest!

A mix of boos and cheers
Question and Answer session:
1. do you or your gov’t seek the destuction of Israel as a state? Blah blah blah….to solve the sixty year problem is to let the Palestianians to solve the problem on their own…

2. give a more clear answer please, less blah blah and more meat. Yes or No?
More blah blah…..doesn’t answer question

3. Why is your gov’t providing aid to terrorists? Well I want to pose a question to you…blah blah blah Iran is a victim of terrorism..26 years ago….They are the fighters of terrorists They are a cultured nation

4. Why are you calling for additional research of the Holocoust? I am an achedemic, can we close the books for good on an historical event? You shouldn’t ask me why I’m asking questions….I am not saying it didn’t happen…Get interrupted to explain how research works..more blah blah blah….there is no such thing as absolute

5. Iranian women are denied basic rights, and homosexuals are killed, why? Freedoms in Iran are genuinly true. Women are present in society, scients, politics etc., it is wrong for our gov’t to spread lies about this..Women are drug trafficers for other countries..should we have sympathy for them? Audience claps…why cause he said capital punishment? He never even answered the question…Gets interuppted to answer question..THEY DON”T HAVE HOMOSEXUALS…DON”T KNOW WHO TOLD YOU THEY DO. Women are respected more than men! Blah blah blah! They just repect women more than anything!

6. What did you hope to accomplish by coming here and what would you have said had you visited ground zero? You treat guests with respect…that is why I wanted to go..It’s bad that we were angry that he wanted to show sympathy.
US is to blame for 9/11.

Allahpundit has Video: There are no gays in Iran, says Ahmadinejad; Update: Photos ” Iran executes gays

Transcript

AHMADINEJAD (THROUGH TRANSLATOR): In Iran, we don’t have homosexuals, like in your country.

(LAUGHTER)

We don’t have that in our country.

(AUDIENCE BOOING)

AHMADINEJAD (THROUGH TRANSLATOR): In Iran, we do not have this phenomenon. I don’t know who’s told you that we have it.

(LAUGHTER)

But, as for women, maybe you think that being a woman is a crime. It’s not a crime to be a woman.

AHMADINEJAD (THROUGH TRANSLATOR): Women are the best creatures created by God. They represent the kindness, the beauty that God instills in them. Women are respected in Iran. In Iran, every family who is given a girl — is given — in every Iranian family who has a girl, they are 10 times happier than having a son. Women are respected more than men are.

They are exempt from many responsibilities. Many of the legal responsibilities rest on the shoulders of men in our society because of the respect, culturally given, to women, to the future mothers. In Iranian culture, men and sons and girls constantly kiss the hands of their mothers as a sign of respect, respect for women. And we are proud of this culture.

Dan Riehl sheds light on the significance of Mahmoud’s science and technology spiel:

Anyone listening closely should have been able to comprehend that Ahmadinejad’s discussion of science and technology was about the search for truth and it was based upon the notion that to discern truth one must be free of ideology and bias due to a pure understanding of Islam via The Koran. That was why he preceded all that science and technology stuff with the little intro on divine wisdom. And the particular truth he was riffing around had to do with the Holocaust.

It’s precisely that point, which the Left and apparently some on the Right miss that makes Iran and Ahmadinejad so dangerous.

Judith at Kesher Talk has photos of the protesters and 9/11 family members who gathered at Ground Zero this morning before being hustled out by the Port Authority.

You know our visa rules are out of whack when we let a confirmed enemy of America take a working vacation in the Big Apple, but let’s not get too excited: A country that doesn’t embrace free speech — even when it’s coming from a smelly turd like Ahmadinejad — is an insecure country. He won’t say anything that truly damages us … and we can take a certain amount of pride in the fact that we have offered that Muslim Nazi a soapbox he’d never offer us.

I won’t take up any more of your bandwidth. I blogged more fully about Ahmadinejad’s visit at Under The News

But seriously they just executed two guys who were gay just the other week. The rule of law in Iran is that for the first couple of offenses you only get whipped; after that it’s death.

Sorry it took me awhile to provide a link but here it is. Sharia law prevails in Iran and gays are executed.

Now Pam, you knowwww they give them at least one chance to come clean :d

So, what is Ahmadinejad’s regime’s policy on homosexuals in the military? We don’t know, but according to Human Rights Watch, Iran is not a terribly friendly place for gay civilians:

On Sunday, November 13, the semi-official Tehran daily Kayhan reported that the Iranian government publicly hung [sic] two men, Mokhtar N. (24 years old) and Ali A. (25 years old), in the Shahid Bahonar Square of the northern town of Gorgan.

The government reportedly executed the two men for the crime of “lavat.” Iran’s shari’a-based penal code defines lavat as penetrative and non-penetrative sexual acts between men. Iranian law punishes all penetrative sexual acts between adult men with the death penalty. Non-penetrative sexual acts between men are punished with lashes until the fourth offense, when they are punished with death. Sexual acts between women, which are defined differently, are punished with lashes until the fourth offense, when they are also punished with death.

If the U.S. military executed homosexuals instead of merely discharging them, perhaps Bollinger would welcome ROTC back to Columbia.

There are no Homosexuals in Iran!

I watched Ahmadinejad’s speech at Columbia University today. Its being covered extensively over the blogs, so I will be brief. The man is smart, possibly brilliant, he is charming in the sense that a sociopath is charming, he had a Clintonesque quali…

I think this should be wonderful news for the radical religous right in this country. Now the James Dobsons and the hate groups like Focus On the Family have somewhere they can live in a culture they want. No homosexuals and strict religious-based laws. Perfect for them. I’ll even donate to their relocation fees.

Discrimination of homosexuals… striving for military power… hardliner foreign policies… selling his idea with a religious flavor… political influence on Iraq… torture on political prisoners…

I really don’t understand, why US conservatives don’t get along with THAT guy?! :-?

15 and 16..so on the down low must be your phrase of the day…for those of you that don’t know what it is, the term originated in the black culture, but it refers to all and refers to people who perform homosexual acts willingly, yet claim to be and”lead” hetrosexual lives.

Is that what you think is happening in Iran? I am sure it is, but where is your outrage…They are executing homosexuals for nothing other than being homosexuals…

#13 Sasha I think Ahmadinejhad looks like a homeless Bob Denver (Gilligan’s island).

What’s up with the homeless look for these ME leaders, anyway? Ahmadinejhad looks like he needs a shower, haircut,s have, and a job. Remember Arafat? Take the tablecloth off his head, put a bottle of Thunderbord in his hand, and he’d fit right in on the street.
