Blair: “They have made their choice and leave us with only one to make – to be forced into retreat or to exhibit even greater determination and belief in standing up for our values than they do in standing up for their’s.”

H/T to Allahpundit for this link to Tony Blair’s speech, that he gave in New York City, last night:

Islamist extremism is similar to “rising fascism in the 1920s and 1930s”, Tony Blair said last night in his first major speech since leaving office:
He told the audience, which included New York governor Eliot Spitzer and mayor Michael Bloomberg, that Iran was the biggest exporter of the ideology, and that the Islamic republic was prepared to “back and finance terror” to support it:
“Analogies with the past are never properly accurate, and analogies especially with the rising fascism can be easily misleading but, in pure chronology, I sometimes wonder if we’re not in the 1920s or 1930s again:
He added: “There is a tendency even now, even in some of our own circles, to believe that they are as they are because we have provoked them and if we left them alone they would leave us alone.
“I fear this is mistaken. They have no intention of leaving us alone.
“They have made their choice and leave us with only one to make – to be forced into retreat or to exhibit even greater determination and belief in standing up for our values than they do in standing up for their’s.”

AP makes a good point, to those that don’t follow this on the same level that we do, it could leave one rolling their eyes. We, on the otherhand, have been following this closely. We watch as our Democratic leaders, and many of their supporters, attempt to make policy that is in support of our enemy. We watch as they claim that it is U.S. policy that is causing terrorism. War was formally declared on us in 1998. We did not respond until 2001. We paid attention to those peace talks, you know the ones, where there was the shake of the hand for a photo op, but at the same time, the deal had been broken before a hand had been extended. We have watched as citizen’s of this country split into many categories, but three worth highlighting are; 1) those that don’t know we are at war 2) Those that never wanted a war 3) thosethat thought the war would be overin afew weeks

Ted put some comments up that I have watched go without a response. Let me remind all of you of some very important quotes:

This war will not be like the war against Iraq a decade ago, with a decisive liberation of territory and a swift conclusion. It will not look like the air war above Kosovo two years ago, where no ground troops were used and not a single American was lost in combat.

Our response involves far more than instant retaliation and isolated strikes. Americans should not expect one battle, but a lengthy campaign, unlike any other we have ever seen.

George W. Bush, September 20, 2001

When we invaded Iraq, it is just a battle within this war. It has be proven that Iraq was a supporter of terrorist. In the same speech, President Bush said:

And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime.

George W. Bush, September 20, 2001

“I will not forget this wound to our country or those who inflicted it. I will not yield; I will not rest; I will not relent in waging this struggle for freedom and security for the American people.”

George W. Bush, September 20, 2001

Tedinthe shed:

In looking at this speech in hindsight, it makes those to object to this war look short sighted and blinder wearing. For these who are against defending ourselves and harp on every mistake made, I hope that someday you will see the folly of the “gotcha” game you’ve been playing.

There are more important things than politics, but 90% of America just seems to not understand that.

It will be our downfall.

    Wow Pam.

I am honored that you would quote me in one of your threads.

I am humbled. I am not worthy. ^:)^

Of course you are worthy. Those quotes from the POTUS are pertinent to everything going on.

Your quote is, unfortunately, so dead on, that it really can’t be ignored.

Thanks to both Pam and Ted for pointing these things out. I get so tired of hearing the same Bush lied over and over again. If the liberals would LISTEN and try to UNDERSTAND the significance and importance of what we are trying to defend America against they wouldn’t harp like this.

The Klinton administration did NOTHING. Zero, zilch, nada. We did not ask for this war but by golly we better hope and pray that our leaders have enough sense to defend us.

When I weigh in on the arguments it comes down to this. What legislation and foreign policy is being presented? Is it harmful or detrimental to America’s national security? For anyone paying attention they will see that the Democrats, owned by a foreign national billionaire (Soros) are trying to weaken America at its core.

And I might add that Bush has had some pretty high profile success in his foreign policy administration. Libya: disarmed and cooperating in terrorist intelligence. North Korea: Talking along with other South Asian leaders. Afghanistan: Taliban uprooted. Iraq: Saddam Hussein caught, tried, executed. Ditto for the sons.

I can’t think of one foreign policy success from Klinton or from Carter for that matter.

    Good morning BonBon!

I am glad to see you have adopted the descriptive spelling “Klinton”. Now if I can just get “Democrite” to be used more. It perfectly characterizes them.

Wow. I just lost my post. Thats unusual for me although I know not generally.

But anyway, good morning to you too Robert. It’s afternoon here though :d Of course I defer to your spelling of Klinton. As for the dems though I don’t see them as anything but liberals. The kind of thing that is a mental illness. >:d<

It’s not that Democrat politicians are the only hypocrites; there are plenty to go around in politics. But they are arch-hypocrites; it is their standard m.o., their fundamental basis. And they take it to such outrageous extremes.

Hence…they are in my lexicon “Democrites”.
