Even the Germans Know Elections are Won Right of C

Even the Germans know you can’t win an election running to the left or even to the center. There is a lesson in this article, not only for the Democrats, but for the wishy-washy Republicans in Spiegel Online’s coverage of the U.S. presidental race.

The Democratic leadership is useless. I’m afraid we only have one political party in this country – it is just known by two different names. This republic is doomed.

Actually I would have to say that it’s a matter of being careful what you wish for. Both parties seem to have stainless steel and titanium spines as long as they’re in the minority and can’t really do anything that they can eventually be held accountable for, but the moment they become the majority they seem to go linguini spined out of fear of actually having to do anything for which they can be held accountable, and thereby losing the majority. Through that very lack of action they insure that their fears of losing the majority are realized.

Perhaps what we really need is a large third party that will never be the majority but will be large enough to keep both of the other parties from being one either. That way both major parties can run their mouthes incessantly, but the third party will have the ability to decide which plan if any will actually go into effect by throwing their weight behind the plan that best benefits the people of this country. That way every bill will have to garner bipartisan support or it will never be able to withstand any opposition from the executive branch.
