Sadly you guys may be right but I remember back in the day when I was young. I was so busy with raising my child and having enough money to put food on the table I didn’t follow politics very closely. Having said that, whenever the elections came up I made sure I took the time to read about the candidates positions, their promises, their successes and failures, etc. so that I would make a good choice. Watching the debates was a given.

Being older and having more hindsight I’m glad I voted Republican as their economic policies were more advantageous to me and the Democrats policies actually hurt the purse.

Let’s hope that todays youth and young adults take time out each election cycle to educate themselves as well. It’s our best hope to protect this country.

I agree with Ted. Remember the old saying:

There are three kinds of people. Those who make things happen, those who watch them happen, and those who ask what happened.

I think there is actually a fourth and growing category: Those who have no awareness that anything has happened.

The last two groups are now in the majority in America. If they know or care at all, they are easily manipulated by propaganda and sound-byte politics. They are utterly unwilling to do or incapable of idependent analysis; instead their limited consciousness is filled with popular idiot culture. That’s why you have MSM lead network news stories about Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears while real news stories about things that will have profound impact on our lives are ignored.

I don’t. I think the vast majority of Americans are sheeple. That is why both parties suck, we can’t get decent candidates and why the complacency of Americans is leading to the downfall of America.

I happen to think you may be off on that one Ted. While it’s true the dems control the media I also believe that many Americans are now beginning to realize that and get their news elsewhere. I for one never take anything first story told. I listen to different takes, different sides, and sometimes get the opinions of the blogs.

Thinking for oneself is harder but without question I think that’s what’s happening.

If the Petraeus strategy cements over the longer term, look for the Democrats to defund the war over the spring/early summer in an attempt to salvage the Presidency.

If the Petraues strategy works, it will be bad news for the Democrats. They are betting on a loss, and are now trying to portray it as a fore gone conclusion.

Reps, you have an uphill battle as they control the media. That shapes 90% of the public perception.
