WTF?: Bloggers Going ‘On Strike’ to Support Writers…

By: Pam On: Nov/12/07 - 3 Comments

First of all, I could care less about the strike. I am stocked up on DVD’s, and if I am not mistaken, my cable channels shouldn’t be affected by it…so… who really cares if these bloggers join the strikers?

Seventeen entertainment blogs”among them Televisionary, Give Me My Remote and Glowy Box”will go dark Tuesday, replacing their sites with WGA solidarity statements.

“Some people thought we’d be against the writers because our favorite shows are going away, but we wanted to show that some things are more important than a few shows airing full season,” says Glowy Box blogger Liz Pardue, who organized tomorrow’s “blog strike.” “There needs to be an education effort made and we’re trying to do our part.”

Entertainment Weekly reports that 3,000 “Battlestar Galactica” fans, in town for a convention, are pledging to join a picket line with the show’s writing staff at Universal Studios on Friday.

This morning, “CSI” fans funded a Burbank aerial banner fly-by with a statement of support.

I have never heard of the blogs, have you? I have been on strike for a week against NBC over their green….I can watch SVU in rereuns…otherwise, I could care less…

Yeah, these bloggers remind me of the A#@hole labor union members who picketed outside of Veterans’ Stadium when the NFL players went on strike in the late eighties and attacked people trying to go to the replacement games. Morons were so stupid as to not realize that the players were a bunch of multimillionaires who were perfectly capable of funding their own damned retirements just too stupid and selfish to do it. I wonder how happy the labor union members are that because of their “solidarity” with the players’ union, they can no longer afford to take their kids to the games more than once a season if that.

You know I don’t have a problem with people giving their support, but wouldn’t continued, up-to-date reports of any negotiations going on, or what actually is the deal in Idiotwood would be better I think. Educating the veiwership should be at the top — and I agree, thank you god for cable, Netflix, and DVDs :)

2- Jo, are they even negotiating? There hasn’t been a single report out on the negotiations..

I am watching the Ellen bashing and shaking my head…Why is she being singled out and not The View or Oprah?
