The Boy Scouts Are Too Pro-War And That Just Won’t Be Tolerated!

Jay at Stop the ACLU has the video and the story of some Boy Scouts that had a fundraiser for the troops! What Jay doesn’t tell you is that MA has spent their over-taxed citizens money on programs to ensure that no kid thinks there is anything positive about the military. The military is just looking for a free lunch! These kids should be out protesting them! The little jerks! They should be out there singing the praises for abortion and denouncing torture.. Okay..enough snark…Jay is correct that we should be outraged that because of some jerk, the city removed the donation boxes!

Weasel Zippers:

Hands down, the best example I’ve ever seen that dispels the often cited liberal load of shit, “we support the troops, but not the war.” No, you DO NOT support the troops, if you have a problem with sending toiletries to them, then you DO NOT support them….

summary report.

CAMBRIDGE - Was it just too pro-war for Cambridge? A troop of Boy Scouts is wondering why their donation boxes meant for troops in Iraq were thrown out of polling stations last week.

Election officials ordered the removal of donation boxes set up by a troop of Cambridge Boy Scouts of America during last Tuesday’s municipal election.

The boxes were set up inside the 33 polling stations around the city to collect donations for soldiers serving overseas in the war in Iraq.

Marsha Weinerman, executive director of the city’s Election Commission, said the boxes were removed after a resident complained to commission workers about their implied “pro-war” message.

“We contacted the law department, and it was determined that the best course of action would be to remove the boxes,” Weinerman said.

In a column that appears in this week’s Chronicle, Troop leader Jamisean Patterson said the commission twice granted the scouts permission to set up the boxes at the polling stations.

“We have never seen anything like this decision in Cambridge before,” Patterson wrote. The city is changing for the worse if decisions like this are allowed to be made.”

Ian Scwartz:

As if it wasn’t official before, they hate our troops. A troop of boy scouts in Boston are being called warmongers because they dared to raise money for our troops.

Blackfive sums it up the best:

Supporting the troops who really do keep bad guys from hurting your worthless behinds and pay blood price so you can freely show your ignorance and shortcomings to the world (and basic lack of commitment to free speech) does NOT equal supporting the war. They are, in fact, two separate things and only a mind operating in non-Euclidean space rather than reality could possibly find an intersection between the two. Since it is obvious that you failed basic logic (and probably most science courses as well I bet), they are exclusive of one another.

The Boy Scouts in this case should get not only an apology (the effort having been approved twice by the appropriate commission), but I further feel that Marsha Weinerman should personally, repeat, personally, repay the Scouts the roughly $1,500.00 they spent on the effort to support the troops. Never happen, just following orders I’m sure, but I can dream.

If you want to cry, by all means read this

God bless our troops and their families!

“As our country has honored us, we want to honor our country.”
