Hell Re-Froze Over….NY Times Claims Improvements In Iraq Are Real
I am getting worried..Last week the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals sided with Bush and now this headline from the New York Times:
Baghdad Starts to Exhale as Security Improves .
This idiot
must be having kittens about it:
The security improvements in most neighborhoods are real. Days now pass without a car bomb, after a high of 44 in the city in February. The number of bodies appearing on Baghdad’s streets has plummeted to about 5 a day, from as many as 35 eight months ago, and suicide bombings across Iraq fell to 16 in October, half the number of last summer and down sharply from a recent peak of 59 in March, the American military says.
As a result, for the first time in nearly two years, people are moving with freedom around much of this city. In more than 50 interviews across Baghdad, it became clear that while there were still no-go zones, more Iraqis now drive between Sunni and Shiite areas for work, shopping or school, a few even after dark. In the most stable neighborhoods of Baghdad, some secular women are also dressing as they wish. Wedding bands are playing in public again, and at a handful of once shuttered liquor stores customers now line up outside in a collective rebuke to religious vigilantes from the Shiite Mahdi Army.Iraqis are clearly surprised and relieved to see commerce and movement finally increase, five months after an extra 30,000 American troops arrived in the country. But the depth and sustainability of the changes remain open to question.
Let’s put the Times report into context. Just two months ago, the paper gave MoveOn a price break to run an ad that accused General David Petraeus of treason and perjury even before he testified about the security improvements. The editorial board called Petraeus’ testimony “empty calories” and complained of his “broken promises and false claims of success” and asserted that Petraeus had not given an “honest accounting” in his Congressional briefings.
The New York Times had no choice but to run this.
What will the Democrats response be?

Thats right!
Michelle reports that:
Democrat Sen. Bob Casey waved the white flag in the Democrat radio address over the weekend.
And tomorrow, Democratic Reps. David Obey, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, and John Murtha, who chairs the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, will hold a news conference on Iraq war funding.
They won’t be announcing a change of heart.
The President’s escalation strategy has failed. We need to stop refereeing this civil war, and start getting out now. — Hillary Clinton, statement of August 23, 2007
As many had foreseen, the escalation has failed to produce the intended results. — letter to Pres. Bush from Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, June 12, 2007
After years of downplaying, dismissing or ignoring every sign of progress in Iraq the New York Times has finally decided that enough is enough. With the last remaining shreds of their credibility and integrity at stake (not to mention their rapidly declining circulation) the Gray Lady knew it could no longer bury the good news from Iraq in the back pages.

Is it like the blind squirrel eventually finding an acorn? The Treasonous Leftist rag, which frankly I would have shut down as seditious long ago, spends so much effort lying, twisting stories, and manufacturing propaganda for our enemies it’s hard to believe they are actually telling the truth. Could it be a misprint? Could something have gone wrong, maybe a bug in their word processing software that created a logic inversion or something?

I hope Harry Reid is crapping bricks and it rips his rectum big time.

Dennis Miller has a good take on Harry Reid. He thinks that Reid is a small man, and that Reid knows that he is a small man. So in an attempt to be somehting more than just a foot note in the history books, he is hedging his bets against the war and against Bush in such radical ways as he has in the past.
Thus, Mr. Reid will never admit he was wrong, even if peace broke out in Iraq tomorrow, a fully Democtratic governement was formed and people threw off thier chains of oppresion.
This is how small Mr. Reid truly is.

Even the NYTimes is seeing the improvement:

It’s too much for Copperheads like Reid and Pelosi to apologize for their “Valladigham platform”. One hundred and forty years ago, they would have been just as happy to leave the Negroes in slavery in exchange for “peace” as they are today to leave anyone not as white or privileged as themselves in tyranny.
