Do TheyThink Being Granted Citizenship Is Like A Pizza Delivery, 30 Minutes Or It’s Free?

Do they think being granted citizenship is like a pizza delivery, 30 minutes or it’s free? There is a backlog of applications at DHS and it may prevent some people from voting in the November 2008 election.

Emilio T. Gonzalez, Director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, is pushing to get these applications through, but at what cost? Here are the numbers, as reported by WaPo:

The immigration agency’s workload has nearly doubled, Aytes said, with 1.4 million naturalization applications arriving from October 2006 to September 2007, compared with 731,000 applications the year before. Between July and September of this year alone, USCIS received 560,000 applications, he said.
The number of green-card-related applications surged to 876,000 in fiscal 2007, from 497,000 in fiscal 2006, he said. At one point this summer, USCIS had 1 million applications and checks waiting to be opened and acknowledged, Aytes said, a backlog that now stands at 235,000. Overall, USCIS received 7.7 million applications for all types of immigration benefits, up from 6.3 million.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), is angered by this:

prospective citizens’ ability to vote could be delayed, even though USCIS justified what she called its “outrageous” fee increases by saying they would pay to improve efficiency and speed processing. Citizenship applicants by rule must have lived in the United States at least three to five years and established stable lives. Roughly 85 percent of applicants are approved.

Citizenship application fees — including electronic fingerprinting fees — rose from $410 to $675 on July 30.

“These are people who want to be Americans . . . and to not allow them to participate in one of the fundamental [rights] of a democracy, which is voting, is a real problem,” Lofgren said.

Is 2008 the last time we are ever voting? Won’t they be here for other elections? You are able to vote when your citizenship is granted. Voting is not the priority. But don’t try to tell Eliseo Medina, executive vice president of the 1.9 million-member Service Employees International Union, who is quoted as saying:

immigrants who want to assimilate into U.S. culture and politics are being let down. “I think the overwhelming response of immigrants is ‘We do want to be part of this country, but we also want our voices heard,’ ” he said. “Unfortunately, due to the incompetence of the federal agency, they may not be able to register their opinions.”

Does assimilation begin or end with the vote? Are these the same immigrants that don’t feel that they need to adopt the English language in our society?

Let’s be honest about who Eliseo Medina is: Heir apparent to Chavez

The applications take time to process. Being in the country for 3-5 years does not automatically grant a person immigration. The government should be investigating what these people did during that time period.

Obviously, the Democrat-supporter unions are behind this “rush” to gain citizenship (thus, voting privileges) for these people. I read just yesterday another article elsewhere as to the unions providing funds to these applicants (by loans and/or outright endowements) for the application processes, and, complaints from this one fellow (in that other article) who has been in the U.S. for “about thirty years” AND YET HAS NEVER APPLIED FOR CITIZENSHIP UNTIL RECENTLY — and yet he’s complaining about “discrimination” because his very recent application isn’t being “approved fast enough” after being questioned as to his fingerprints (so he’s waiting for the results of his last prints before he can pass the citizenship steps). He’s been here for THIRTY YEARS, enjoying, almost certainly, a whole lot of income he’s not paying taxes on, a lot of helps and services from the U.S. and U.S. taxpayers and he has the gall to complain that his recent citizenship application isn’t being processed ‘fast enough’. The guy is a said to be a waiter in Las Vegas and suddenly he just “has to” become a citizen “so he can vote.” AND OF COURSE there’s a union urging him on…

You know, this is big government. Just wait until Hillary-care is implemented. Instead of citizenship, wait until it is their heart bypasses and transplants that are delayed because the Hillary style bureaucrisy.

You think not? Find a copy of the 1992 book spelling out Hillary’s plan. I think Frank Rich wrote it. If it wasn’t Rich, it was another Clinton toady at the NYSlimes that did, and proudly proclaimed his ties to the Times on the cover of the book.

Read some Facts, not fiction, http://www.deadfacts.com and on the bottom of the web site is a web ring of 50 plus immigration sites. It is the ILLEGAL issue, not the immigration issue. If a 63 year old woman accountant stole your life savings from your savings account….should she just get a scolding or sent to jail? Well Pedro with a pocket of
false documents has crossed our borders without permission, should we give this illegal invader a free pass. Duh, get informed!:d
