As I told you before, SCHIP is the universal health care Trojan Horse . SCHIP depends on smokers, yet Congress plans to extinguish smoking. As Coburn warned us: :”So this is going to be a tough vote. Kids versus my political career. Kids versus my political power. Kids versus my political earmarks. We’re going to see. We’re going to get to see what the real priorities of the Senate are.” And see we are. Michelle points to this:
President Bush and Congress have spent much of autumn locked in a bitter fight over expanding a popular children’s health insurance program, and neither side has been willing to blink.
But for states such as California, the effects of the stalemate are hitting home.
Unless there’s an infusion of cash - and quickly - California will run out of federal money to pay for its program in June. To prepare for the shortfall, state officials will decide in the next two weeks whether to stop enrolling new children and send letters to 56,600 families telling them their children will lose health coverage on Dec. 31.
“These are horrible options,” said Lesley Cummings, who manages the state’s Healthy Families insurance program for low-income kids. “We never thought we were going to be in this place.”
California isn’t alone. The Congressional Research Service estimates that 21 states will exhaust their federal money next year - nine will run out of money in March - if Congress simply keeps the program funded at the current levels.Congress approved a short-term extension until Dec. 14 for the program, which is run by the states and paid for with state and federal money. But while lawmakers and the White House have been negotiating for weeks over a compromise to boost funding, no deal has been reached.
Michelle is correct when she says:
The Dems and their media water-carriers will blame Bush. But the Dems’ political ploy is transparent: They’d rather S-CHIP run out of money than pass a streamlined version of the bill that provides a steady stream of funds at current levels.
Who cares about the children?
This isn’t about the children’s health, this is about the Democrats scoring future votes with bad legislation. This has nothing to do with the children, and everything to do with the failure of the Democratic leadership.

For all of those liberals who are in favor of socialized medicine, I want to let you know what Medicare/medicaid is planning for the near future and you need to realize that “Universal Healthcare” will be even worse because it will require Doctors to participate or get out of medicine. This is directly from an AMA flyer. Despite the fact that Medicare knows that operating expenses for Drs’ offices have risen of the past 6 years, Medicare will be reducing their payments for covered services to 10% less than they’ve been paying for the last 6 years. Medicare also intends to reduce the payment amounts for covered services by a total of 40% over the next 9 years. That means in 2016, Medicare will have lowered its payments for covered services to 40% less than they were paying in 2001. Unlike the proposed universal healthcare plan of the Democrats, doctors can refuse to accept Medicare and only accept private insurance which pays substantially more. Many doctors who rely on Medicare payments for a bulk of their patients will be forced to either turn away current patients or face closing their doors. If the proposed universal healthcare is adopted, many doctors will close their offices due to an inability to make enough to pay their bills. This will result in an even higher patient to doctor ratio. That ratio will result in longer waits to see a doctor. It will also cause many hospitals to close their doors. If you think the current system sucks, just imagine how great it will be when you have only one doctor to service over 500 people.

9, FAO, your pearls fall on deaf ears because Hillary Clinton and her fellow Democrats will have private doctors or be at the head of the line for treatments and transplants because they are important politicians.
