Oh Look..Jesse Claims Democrats Are Ignoring Blacks…Boo Hoo…
The man is an idiot. An idiot that is trying to stay relevant in today’s world. Too bad he doesn’t realize that his time has passed and America is over him. He is an opportunistic racist that puts himself before all else, making sure that Jesse gets the largest piece of any pie that he has pinched from some dumb sap.
Today, Jesse is screaming:
Can Democrats get the votes they need simply because they’re not Republicans? You might think so in this presidential campaign. African-American and urban votes are critical to any Democratic victory. Bill Clinton won two terms without winning the most white votes. His margin was the overwhelming support of black voters. George Bush learned that lesson; that’s why his campaigns spent so much effort suppressing the black vote in key states like Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004. His victory margin was the tally of votes suppressed or uncounted.
Yet the Democratic candidates — with the exception of John Edwards, who opened his campaign in New Orleans’ Ninth Ward and has made addressing poverty central to his campaign — have virtually ignored the plight of African Americans in this country. The catastrophic crisis that engulfs the African-American community goes without mention. No urban agenda is given priority. When thousands of African Americans marched in protest in Jena, La., not one candidate showed up.
Democratic candidates are talking about health care and raising the minimum wage, but they aren’t talking about the separate and stark realities facing African Americans.
The civil rights movement succeeded in ending segregation and providing blacks with the right to vote. But the end of legal apartheid did not end the era of discrimination. And the ending of institutionalized violence did not end institutionalized racism.
Patterns of discrimination are sharply etched. African Americans have, on average, about half of the good things that whites have, and double the bad things. We have about half the average household income and less than half the household wealth. On the other hand, we’re suffering twice the level of unemployment and twice the level of infant mortality (widely accepted as a measure of general health).
Well of course the candidates didn’t show up to protest Jena..These kids are thugs, they just happen to be black. They aren’t facing charges because they are black, they are facing charges because of their actions. It wasn’t like Jesse showed up in Jena the day after the nooses did..he smelled the press and went running down there.
Lets look at the figures he cites on income. Here is a link to an MSNBC story that I believe he used for the info. Marc Morial, president and CEO of the National Urban League, “blamed the disparities on inadequate schools in black neighborhoods, workplace discrimination and too many black families with only one parent.”
The schools they claim are inadequate, are, but let’s be honest about why they are the way they are. The schools lost control in the past 30 years. Inner city schools are far more likely to be dangerous, due to gangs and drugs. Instead of taking back the schools and the neighborhoods, we have people like Jackson making excuses for criminal behavior. What teacher wants to go into this? What parent wants to send their child to this?
Perhaps most disturbing, middle-income black families do not appear to be passing on higher incomes to their children in the same way that white families have, Isaacs said.
She found that only one in three black children from middle-income families grew up to have higher incomes than their parents.
“That means a majority ended up slipping down,” Isaacs said.
Among whites, about two-thirds of the children from middle-income families grew up to have higher incomes than their parents, she said.
On a positive note, black children from poor families were much more likely to grow up to have higher incomes than their parents, Isaacs said.
That is a positive, but unless the black community says enough to the excuses, and gets serious about the situation that they helped create, nothing will get better. Welfare is one of the evils that Jackson won’t touch. Welfare wasn’t meant to be a generational inheritance. It was to help a person get back on their feet, and make their own way in life. We keep hearing about keeping blacks down, but we never hear anything about the generations that continue to consider welfare to be a right, and not a temporary privilage.

The Rev. Martin Luther King saw the movement to end segregation and gain voting rights as the first stage of the civil rights movement. The second stage — to gain economic justice and equal opportunity in fact — he knew would be more difficult. Now, 40 years later, it is no longer acceptable for candidates to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to entrenched discrimination and still expect to reap our votes.
Yes Dr. King had a dream, but I can assure you Jesse, it didn’t involve you pimping the very people he wanted to bring up. You made your money at the expense of the people Dr. King fought for. Take some time to actually listen to what the black people are saying in Chicago…number one problem to them is the illegals that take jobs from them. The job they get from an illegal? Good money from selling illegal Social Security numbers. Number two complaint…gang bangers and drug dealers. It must be a nightmare for any black family to have to try and raise a family around gangs and drug dealers. It must be a nightmare to try and explain to a black child that it may look like easy money, but there’s a price. How about addressing that. How about we talk about what the blacks can do to stop the circle of crime and poverty. It is always easier to blame whitey though.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. on Monday demanded City Council hearings and plans a Dec. 10 march on LaSalle Street to shine the light on a mortgage foreclosure epidemic he warned could trigger a “sustained depression” as early as next year.
Jackson accused “unscrupulous lenders” of targeting minorities for high-cost loans in a “form of redlining and racial profiling.” He pointed to a study by the National Community Reinvestment Coalition that shows African Americans of all income levels in the Chicago area were more than twice as likely as whites to receive the subprime and ballooning adjustable interest rate mortgages that can be a prelude to foreclosure. The City Council has no power to bring about the solution that Jackson is seeking: a freeze on both adjustable rate mortgages and home foreclosures, and restructuring in favor of repossession. But, City Council hearings can apply political pressure.
“Rats run in holes when lights come on. The City Council can expose the lenders,” Jackson said. He added, “People who have been trapped are suffering in the dark alone.” With 30,000 Chicago homes in foreclosure and 85,000 more threatened by late payments, Jackson warned that “the biggest economic crisis” to hit the U.S. since the Great Depression threatens city services.

A headline in the September 14th issue of the New York Times says: “Blacks Hit Hardest By Costlier Mortgages.” Thirteen years ago, virtually the identical story appeared in the Wall Street Journal under the title, “Federal Reserve Details Pervasive Racial Gap in Mortgage Lending.”
Both stories are based on statistical studies by the Federal Reserve showing that blacks and whites have different experiences when applying for mortgage loans ” and both stories imply that racial discrimination is the reason.
The earlier study showed that blacks were turned down for mortgage loans a higher percentage of the time than whites were and the later story shows that blacks resorted to high-priced “subprime” loans more often than whites when they financed the purchase of a home. Both amount to the same thing ” less credit being extended to blacks on the same terms as credit extended to whites. Both studies also say that this is true even when black and white loan applicants have the same income. The first time around, 13 years ago, this seemed like a pretty good case for those who blamed the differences on racial discrimination.
However, both research and old age tend to produce skepticism about things that look plausible on the surface. Just scratching the surface a little often makes a plausible case collapse like a house of cards.
For example, neither study took credit histories into account. People with lower credit ratings tend to get turned down for loans more often than people with higher credit ratings, or else they have to go where loans have higher interest rates. This is not rocket science. It is Economics 1. Blacks in the earlier study turned out to have poor credit histories more often than whites. But the more recent news story did not even look into that.
Anyone who has ever taken out a mortgage loan knows that the lenders not only want to know what your current income is, they also want to know what your net worth is. Census data show that blacks with the same income as whites average less net worth. That is not rocket science either. Not many blacks have affluent parents or rich uncles from whom they could inherit wealth. The earlier study showed that whites were turned down for mortgage loans more frequently than Asian Americans and the more recent study shows that Asian Americans are less likely than whites to take out high-cost “subprime” loans to buy a house.
Does that mean that whites were being discriminated against? Or are statistics taken seriously only when they back up some preconception that is politically correct?
