“President Bush has refused throughout his tenure to even observe June as Gay Pride Month.”

Think Progress is picking up where they left off yesterday. Today, they are going after the DOJ.

OH WELL!!! That just PROVES GW Bush is a failure and his administration is bad! NEVER mind his prosecution of the WOT,the tax cuts that have kept the U.S. economy alive throughout these very difficult times. No, that isn’t the issue!
It’s his failure to observe Gay Pride Month that ultimately defines his administration, and diminishes his Legacy! Oh yes!
Yeah, right. Bush has plenty to be critical of for sure, and the Gay Pride crap thing isn’t one of them.
When I see stupid crap like this I think maybe they need to go back into the closet.

Exactly what does anyone have to be proud of when it comes to sexuality? Honestly? Except for having outstanding genes resulting in above average endowments ( a fact they didn’t have a damn thing to do with) exactly what is there to be proud of? Every warm blooded species on the planet has sex. If you put enough male mice into a small enough cage, some of them will display homosexual tendencies. I think I’d find something a bit more significant to be proud of than acting like a mouse in an overcrowded cage.
BTW Pam, I’ve added a number of new slogans to my Cafepress store.

Anyone here actually been to a gay pride parade, or even talk with a gay person on a dauly basis?
I doubt it…

6, we talk to you, and that is more than enough.
SFL, If you think there should be a Gay Pride month, how about supporting a HETRO Pride month, A Christian Pride month, A White Pride month, A Conservative Pride month? Do you get it? I doubt it.

6. Not to a gay parade but yes certainly to gays. Some of the nicest people I’ve ever met in fact. But that doesn’t mean I support their lifestyle, it only means I don’t judge their actions.
If Pres. Bush does not approve of the gay lifestyle then so what. He’s an American and has a right to an opinion just like the rest of us. At least the last time I read the Constitution.
And as a tie in to my first paragraph I’m sure Bush and Laura treat the Cheney’s daughter with respect and dignity even if they don’t approve of the lifestyle. In other words their personal opinions in general don’t spill over to gay people specifically.
You know several years ago I had a couple of students complain because a faculty member on the first day of class tell their students he was gay and if they had a problem with it they could get out of the class before it was too late. Now I don’t know about you SFL but I could care less about other peoples sex life. It’s a personal thing and certainly none of anyone elses business. I’m also equally sure that if a faculty member had started a class saying they were heterosexual they would have been disciplined.

Actually SFL, I have a lot of gay friends. There is a difference between being homosexual and being a flaming freak. ALL of my gay friends find these kind of actions disgusting, deplorable, and detrimental to the cause of gay rights in this country. Much like the illegal alien marches in this country, the rabid flaming freak shows do nothing to advance the cause that they are supposedly supporting. If any group wants to be accepted, they need to act like they are just like everyone else. Demanding that the mainstream populace accept and revel in your group’s defiance of acting in accordance with social norms does nothing but reenforce your opposition’s position that your actions should be regulated or eliminated. Let me give you an example:
Arizona is an open carry state. That means that as long as you aren’t going into a place where firearms are strictly forbidden, it is legal to carry a firearm openly. While this action may be legal, you seldom see people walking the streets of Phoenix with a handgun openly strapped to their hip. However there are tens of thousands who spend over $150 annually to obtain and maintain a permit to carry a handgun concealed. Why? Because while they have the right to carry a handgun openly throughout most of the state, they understand that to do so might unnerve the percentage of the population that doesn’t like guns. Therefore they exercise their 2nd Amendment right to carry a gun responsibly and in a manner that will not scare off the more meek among us.
As I have said on other lists, if the gays want to be completely accepted, they need to understand that they are not going to get there through court enforced social revolution. They will only get there through social EVOLUTION. While evolution is a one way street, revolution envariably comes back to bite you in the backside. While they may get their way in the courts now, judges die and rulings can be overturned if the judges feel they were incorrect in the first place. Just look at the 9th Circuit’s record. They have the highest rate of being overturned of any circuit court in the country with over 70% of their rulings failing to pass Constitutional muster at the Supreme Court level.
