I just finished an interesting book by Arab author Naguib Mahfouz, called “Midaq Alley”.
It was written in the late 1940s and eventually was translated into English and went on to win the Nobel prize in literature.
It’s an interesting fictional look into the lives of a group of people who live and work in a small alley in Cario, Egypt near the end of WW2. It’s a modern life meets traditional life kind of story.
If any of you have a few days of reading to spare, take this one out from the library. it’s free (!)
