Drew Hammill, a spokesman for Pelosi, said the Republicans were “merely attempting to distract from the success of the Democratic energy security legislation” and noted that 95 House Republicans supported the bill. He said the bill would encourage the development of hybrids and alternative vehicles.
Yes, by all means deliver that historic bill in a foreign car that was made by non-union labor! Way to go!

Oh how cute the Democrites are!
I’ll bet their Energy Bill incuded nothing that makes sense, like acceleraying licensiung of nuclear power plants, cutting red tape on oil refinery expansion and construction to increase gasoline production, expanded exploration and development of America’s energy supplies, etc.
Nope, nothing that makes sense. Just the same political payoffs and other crap that ha sput us into the dilemna we are now in.

It seems the Left has a fundamental belief that anything foreign is better than American: food, cars, culture, etc. They tend to snobbishly assume that anything Euro is automatically preferable to American because America is so unsophisticated and Europe is so “progressive”.
Not me. I think values like loyalty, honor, discipline, integrity, etc. are timeless. The fundamental values that America was built on are proven great, and the formula is a proven winner.
I don’t care if the Euros decide to follow each other off the cliff. I won’t follow them. The Leftist Lemmings of course want us to do just that with the stupid Kyoto/Church of Global warming fraud.

There are a number of things wrong with this bill. It does absolutely NOTHING to provide security or energy. It will weaken this country.
As for the Toyota Prius, I’m not sure about the Prius, but most Toyotas, Hondas, Nissans, and many Hyundais and 3 Series BMWs sold in the US are actually made here by UAW workers. Since the foreign manufacturers aren’t saddled with decades worth of expensive retirement benefits, they are able to manufacturer here profitably. They also refuse to agree to those kind of benefits. The workers understand that they have a choice of accept a reasonable contract or be unemployed. Now if you want a Dodge truck, it’ll probably be coming from Mexico where retirement and medical benefits are non-existent.
