Robert himself has an abundance of common sense. What it means to me though is the analysis of something. What is it, what effect will it have on me and others, how much does it cost, it’s cost effectiveness and durability.
Anyone who believes the something for nothing is not using their heads. Nothing in this world is free or easy. And there is a reason why it’s called work; money doesn’t grow on trees.

I checked out the “Wind powr vs. birds” link:
“Numerous surveys and studies of dead birds have taken place in the Altamont going back to at least 1992, but the analysis, according to a 2005 Government Accountability Office review of the studies, “has been complicated by confounding variables.”
This is a perfect situation for another Guru, a savior like Al Gore to ride in and take charge! I have been thinking: what about Bird Offsets? The Wind energy companies can’t avoid killing birds but if they purchase offsets/credits from others who do not kill birds in the conduct of their business, the problem can be deemed to be solved!
I am thinking of starting a bird offsets brokerage business. I myself do not kill any birds so I’ll sell my credits to the first customer. Then I’ll invest the money into a wind energy company. When they buy offsets, I’ll be just like Al Gore: taking money from one of my pockets pocket and putting it into another (while taking the tax deduction along the way) then go around making money by speaking at public functions about the avian crisis and how all the wind energy companies need to buy offsets (from my company, of course) to atone for their evil murderous deeds.
There might be a movie in this. A movie establishing in popular culture that as the birds go, so goes humanity! I could call it “The Birds II: The End of Humanity” and establish (with cherry-picked out of context factoids) how the killing of the bords translates into the end of humanity and the world.
It’ll be great! I’ll find some hack Scientists and promise them a portion of the proceeds for their “importantresearch”. They’ll know that the only way to keep the gravy train rolling is to join the hue and cry; they know the game well.

I’d like to start the Avian Offsets company; but I don’t know if I am up to the task of front man. I think I need a a good con, I mean, PR man. Someone with no integrity, no ethics. Someone who like Al Gore who is very experienced at arch-hypocrisy. Someone who has a track record of taking successful cons/frauds to market. I doubt Gore is available; he’s already too successful with his own frauds. Someone with his stellar ability to find an angle and exploit it is what is needed. Somewhere who can look suckers in the eye and lie to them, all while waving his hands and looking so pious he gets a Nobel Peace prize. And the suckers believe him hook line and sinker, parroting the bs while berating non-believers.
Al Gore has perfected the scam.

Wind power is only gaining in appeal.
The article mentions, briefly, that there are newer models of wind turbines that have longer blades and spin much slower, greatly reducing the danger to birds. Changing over to these new ones will be costly, but makes sense in the long run.
That said, the amount of common birds killed each year by these things is MUUUUCH smaller than the amount of birds killed each year by…glass windows.

Wind power may be a good idea, but it’s not as efficient as it needs to be to be a viable alternative to fuel powered generation. It is a good supplement, but it’s not quite to the point of being a real replacement. It’ll be great when it gets there in about 50 years. It’ll be great once all of the new superconductor materials are developed that will make them as efficient as possible.

Oh yes every major eco-freak groups pushing wind turbines and the WORLD WILDLIFE FUND putting on a dumb TV ad pushing fior wild energy over nucular power and now wind turbines are bird killers i mean just contact the AMERICAN BIRD CONSERVANCY and inqiure about this and you,ll hear a lot that the eco-wackos wont tell you. Maybe the AMERICAN BIRD CONSERVANCY should sue the enviromentalists wackos who support wind turbines
