BET FOUNDER UNLOADS ON OBAMA…DEFENDS THE CLINTONS HONOR
I saw this quote in a local paper and I wanted to share it with you before I get into the Robert L. Johnson story.
“It’s about making history,” Tillman said. “That’s an important thing to a person of color. I want to be a part of that. That $1,000 was to say I did my part, too.”
However, he would not say whether he ultimately would vote for Obama over a Republican.
That is a very truthful statement and people might want to keep it in mind before they start knocking Oprah for supporting Obama and not a woman.(H/T to Ed)
Compare and contrast that statement to this one made by Robert L. Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television:
Dr. King had led a “moral crusade,” Mr. Johnson said, but such crusades have to be “written into law.”
“That is the way the legislative process works in this nation and that takes political leadership,” he said. “That’s all Hillary was saying.”He then added: “And to me, as an African-American, I am frankly insulted that the Obama campaign would imply that we are so stupid that we would think Hillary and Bill Clinton, who have been deeply and emotionally involved in black issues since Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood – and I won’t say what he was doing, but he said it in the book – when they have been involved.”
Moments later, he added: “That kind of campaign behavior does not resonate with me, for a guy who says, ‘I want to be a reasonable, likable, Sidney Poitier ‘Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.’ And I’m thinking, I’m thinking to myself, this ain’t a movie, Sidney. This is real life.“
Brutally honest, and I agree with him. Obama does not have the expirience necessary to run this country. He better get ready for some more like this, because the season has just begun. It is going to get a lot uglier than what he saw today. Dan calls it “Sort of a reverse Sister Souljah moment, as BET founder Robert Johnson on the stump with Hillary plays the drug card against Obama.” Curt says “The Re-Writing Of History By Hillary”
Of course Obama wasted no time sending one of his minions after her:
“It’s offensive that Senator Clinton literally stood by and said nothing as another one of her campaign’s top supporters launched a personal, divisive attack on Barack Obama,” he said. “For someone who decries the politics of personal destruction, she should’ve immediately denounced these attacks on the spot.”
Welcome to politics! Obama is the one that put his drug use out there for everyone to see. He used the word ‘junkie’, rather than occasional user. Did he think he wouldn’t be answering for it? George Bush quit drinking almost 30 years ago, but he still has to answer for it! Bryan has more

I just became an INDEPENDENT! This is America and Mr. Johnson can agree with anyone he wishes, however, if he is going to criticize Oboma’s youthful past, he must also understand that he’s opening doors to the mess/sex and admitted drug use (he did not inhale) of Bill Clinton. We also have NAFTA because of his administration. The poor and the racial freedom of African Americans is compromised each day, immigrations, and the economy, the Middle East as well as lack of jobs are major concerns. How will Billary (not misspelled) handle these problems?. Careful who you call your FRIENDS. If you don’t understand your actions, it’s too late to begin understand now. WORDS are powerful and you cannot take them back. BET could have been a tool for teaching and empowering the young, however you choose the worse music and role models to affect impressive black youth. SHAME ON YOU!

Jean- I agree with you on the point of the Clinton’s past, but I do feel that Obamas past is very open to discussion. Barak chose the word “junkie” when discussing his past usage..
Well said on BET and Robert L. Johnson. We need strong voices in the black community that can convey the message you and I agree must be conveyed.
