Hillary 55% To Uncommitted 40% In Michigan Primary

There is nothing for her to gloat about!

The five largest counties in Michigan voted accordingly:

1 Wayne County(Detroit) 49/47
2 Oakland County 51/44
3 Macomb County 64/31
4 Kent County 50/45
5 Genesee County 57/40

5% of the vote was split between Kucinich and Dodd

And Josh is wrong about this

The others, and even Hillary to a degree, boycotted the primary because Michigan got crosswise with the national Democratic party over the date of their primary. Rep. Conyers (D) is an Obama supporter and he pushed for the state’s African-American community to vote “uncommitted.” There’s too much screwy about the Democratic primary in Michigan tonight to draw too much from this; but it is suggestive.

Hillary didn’t boycott anything! She and Granholm played everyone on this one!

Thus the best-laid plans of Clinton and Gov. Jennifer Granholm have paid off. Thanks to an early primary pushed by Granholm, Clinton is in a position to win the first big industrial state to vote next year and her campaign doesn’t have to spend a dime in the process.

Here is a angry Obama supporter that makes sense:

Had Clinton not gone back on her word, this whole ‘debacle’ never would have occurred,” Schuttler says. “But instead she decided to remain on the ballot to secure herself a potential default victory. Because of this, supporters of other Democratic candidates were left with no option on the ballot.” While an unabashed Obama supporter, Schuttler is a staunch Democrat whose ire over those he feels are culpable prompted him to act.

“Governor Granholm is partially to blame for this fiasco,” Schuttler says. “Notice that the day after Hillary said she would remain on Michigan’s ballot, Granholm endorsed her. She claims this is because Hillary, by staying on the ballot, is supporting Michigan’s causes. But if this is so true, why hasn’t Hillary visited Michigan since the primary season began?”

Schuttler concluded: “She [Granholm] and the legislature are both well aware of DNC rules, as well as the consequences for breaking them. They effectively gambled away the voices of millions of Michigan Democrats. The Michigan Legislature and Governor Granholm both have blood on their hands in this matter.” (Some speculate that Granholm has her eyes on the Attorney General post if Clinton wins the White House.)

Actually, she didn’t go back on her word, she just chose to hedge her bets and screw her fellow democrats

I love this quote:

Gov. Jennifer Granholm said this morning at a Clinton rally in Southfield that her candidate “is committed to Michigan.”

“Her opponent in this state apparently is ‘uncommitted,’ which is not an opponent,” Granholm told reporters after speaking to 100 Clinton supporters at the Westin Hotel. “That is why we are encouraging voters to get out and vote for Hillary Clinton. She is not uncommitted to Michigan, which the other candidates apparently are.”

This looks like a hollow victory for HilLiary. I heard there are no delegates since Michigan broke the rules and had the primary early.

Robert, the delegates don’t come into play right now, but there has been talk that 1/2 will be awarded..Now..let’s say theirs is a horse race, and it will be, and gets down to them needing a decider? Michigan’s do come into play..

On the Michigan Dems Primary, this ‘prediction’ pretty much gets it wrong: http://www.homelessdave.com/totterarchive9.htm#15January2008

Considering that Edwards and Obama were ENCOURAGED by the DNC to withdraw after the DNC revoked Michigan’s ability to name delegates to the convention, I can’t help but think that if the DNC does give Michigan any delegates now, a MAJOR lawsuit would ensue. A Lawsuit that could cause the Dems to not be able to name a nominee in time to actually campaign for the presidency. Or at least cost the party so much money that they won’t be able to provide adequate funding for some of their candidates.

I had thought of that FAO. The candidates had all agreed to stay away..Shillary changed her mind..she is doing the same thing in florida..now I don’t think Dean actually told them to, I believe it was in deference to the rules..Keep in mind that 40% “uncommitted”..that is the bargaining chip..Shillary does not get all the delegates. I believe they are split..
