Fred Thompson Is OUT

By: Pam On: Jan/22/08 - 10 Comments

A sad announcement :(

McLean, VA – Senator Fred Thompson today issued the following statement about his campaign for President:
“Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for President of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort. Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people.”

There is always the hope that he will be chosen as the Vice Presidential nominee!

That’s a shame. Too bad all of the Democrite candidates aren’t out. Then the DemokRats could nominate Bozo the clown, who’d be a perfect caricature of the modern Democrite.

I told you he wouldn’t get very far…

A lot of FreeRepublic conservatives also supported Fred.

    Too bad.

SFL- I saw yesterday that his intention was to get the VP nod. I think he would be a strong choice.

He probably would be an asset to McCain (a good, old friend of Thompson), but I’m not so sure about Romney.

    Maybe…

I thought that until the day turned to night and he didn’t throw his support that way!

I think he will be an asset to Romney.

I thought of you Robert when I heard this but I’m thinking VP would be good. I can see him being VP for almost all of the others.

Which would you prefer an old white corrupt lieing white woman, or a young hip naive not up for the task black man?

Honestly, I like Barack Obama, but he’s just too damn much like Jimmy Carter. He’s got his head in the clouds with his high ideals, but he’s just not grounded in reality. I remember the debacle that was the Carter presidency. You simply can not put someone in charge of the largest economy in the world who doesn’t understand how an economy works. If he realized that he could honestly fund every program he wants if he cut tax rates to allow the economy to grow and took time to implement the giveaways incrementally. He could have it all. Unfortunately, the Dems are all wanting to push their class/race/sex warfare agenda without regards for how it’ll actually make things worse not better.
Tax rate cuts expand the economy. They always have, they always will. Look at how the treasury has been taking in record revenues the past 4 quarters. If spending had been kept under control (no new earmarks for a year) the budget would be balanced and the deficit nearly paid off.

LMAO…so, what’s new and exciting that you or your ilk has to offer?

    Absolutely nothing.

    Same as the Republicans.

The “new and exciting” I’d like to see is an honest person in office- one with integrity. You guys just don’t see it.

This year, I am voting for the person who can cause the most pain to the pocketbooks of the citizens of America as quickly as possible in a 4 year span before they are voted out of office.

    This year, that’s Hillary Clinton.

Hey, it’s not the 4yr pain in the pocketbook I’m concerned about with Hillary, it’s the potentially tens of thousands of dead Americans that could result from her pursuing her anti – American leftist agendas. The gun owners aren’t going to line up to hand them over. Hundreds if not thousands of companies will fold under the oppressive tax burdens leaving millions unemployed. She was taking economic advice from Granholm in Michigan, the one state that has been in a recession. A state that spends MILLIONS advertising for new businesses to move there and then continually raises taxes on the ones there until they leave or go under. Exactly what’s going to happen when we have millions of disgruntled people who have lost their jobs and homes because of the tax policies that have forced them out of work and the open border policies that forced the remaining employed workers to take huge paycuts or face losing their jobs to the invading horde of illegals? This country is headed toward a boiling point. People are MAD.
