First of all, my Selma comment is a response to what PCD said about people pushing morality and getting hurt for it.

That said, the Selma to Montgomery March – especially the whole Bloody Sunday tragedy – was seen by millions of Americans on TV and help change the hearts and opinions regarding black civil rights for many, many people.

Of course, at the rate he's going, we at least won't have to listen to his sorry ass for too many more years. Especially if he's forced to sign up for some form of socialized medicine. They need to start trying to conform and NOT BE OUT DANCING THROUGH THE STREETS DRESSED LIKE SIDESHOW FREAKS. I personally have nothing against gay marriages. If someone finds someone to love and that loves them back, more power to them. HOWEVER, you're trying to push for social REVOLUTION not Social EVOLUTION. As Tommy Lee Jones says in the movie "Under Siege" "It's called a revolution because it goes back to where it started and then it bites you in the ass." If the gay community wants to be treated equally, they need to ACT like they should be treated equally instead of acting like a bunch of spoiled children throwing temper tantrums. Do you REALLY think that the marches in Selma brought about the civil rights legislation in the 60s? Or perhaps it started with the Emancipation Proclamation, followed by the amendments that gave citizenship and its inherent rights to the freed slaves? The civil rights movement (note movements only go in one direction, revolutions come back on themselves) started before the US Civil War and just happened to end in the 60s. That's over 100 years of the blacks in this country working their asses off to prove to EVERYONE that they were just as good as any white citizen. The Gay rights/pride movement hasn't been around 40 years, and they aren't trying to prove that they are just as good as straight people. Frequently they are condescending and rude, and that's the ones who aren't out wearing tutus and tights marching up and down the street. If you want respect, you have to give it. As long as the gay community keeps looking down it's nose at the straight majority and acting like freaking lunatics, they will NEVER BE ACCEPTED. The gay community has to keep in mind that they are a VERY small minority and that their actions are considered morally repugnant to probably 70% of the people in this country. Once they start acting like normal people they will start being accepted as normal people. The VAST majority of gay people that I know are very normal people, but the flamboyant flaming ones give the rest a bad name. Literally 1 percent of the population is out there making asses of themselves and demanding that everyone else accept their actions as normal. If the gay community would condemn and tell the assholes in their midst to STFU, the gay rights movement could get back on the right track. As long as they allow the Flaming Assholes to represent the gay community, they will never get acceptance from the straight community. BTW there is one Constitutional argument that is irrefutable to permit gay marriage. That's the amendment that forbids cruel and unusual punishment. Under most state laws, anyone who has undergone a sex change operation is permitted to mary someone of their original sex. Since forced mutilation of the genitals is considered cruel and unusual punishment for any crime, no matter how heinous, to require a person to undergo a sex change operation in order to be able to marry someone of their same gender would be to force them to have their genitals mutilated for the purpose of becoming married. It doesn't really change the person's gender, it is simply cosmetic surgery. Seeing as homosexuality is not nearly as dangerous as obesity, why aren't obese people forced to undergo gastric bypass surgery before being allowed to marry? It's a form of cosmetic surgery that has also been shown to have a positve impact on the health of diabetics.
