Hmmm let’s see, the country is at war. The administration which is CONSTITUTIONALLY required to conduct any wars, asks telecoms to eavesdrop on people they have reason to believe are illegal enemy combatants and saboteurs (terrorists for those without knowledge of the Geneva Conventions) and the potential enemy combatants and the ACLU are suing the telecoms for cooperating? There is NOTHING in the Constitution that requires any form of court approval for intelligence gathering by the Executive branch. The 4th amendment only applies to criminal cases and contrary to liberal lawyers’ beliefs, illegal enemy combatants (terrorists) are NOT covered by the Constitution. There is plenty of historical precedence for trying to discover enemy combatants during time of war that would violate the Constitution were they being sought as criminals. The liberal left and their stupidity when it comes to security and intelligence matters are why we are in this mess. Jimmy Carter and the Church commission severely gutted our intelligence gathering capacity overseas and the Clinton’s screwed up what was left.
