Is There An Alliance Between McCain and Huckabee?

Mark points out that Russert may be correct. McCain may be dangling the VP slot to Huckabee:

The Meet the Press host is demonstrating how John McCain is dangling the VP slot to Mike Huckabee. And Huck seems as transfixed as a hound before a bone, judging by the way he’s staying in the race against all odds and spending his time taking shots at Mitt Romney.

If that is the case, my worries of a McCain nomination just disappeared!

Michelle has these picks posted:

Hillary Clinton/Wesley Clark: “He endorsed her last September. He’s a Rush Limbaugh-bashing, nutroots favorite. He does not threaten her. His anti-war crusading will take the Code Pinko heat off of her. And having run for president once, he’s been “tested” on the campaign trail.”

Barack Obama/ Lee Hamilton:”Moderate Democrat. Long resume with experience on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the Iraq Study group, Hart-Rudman Commission, the President’s Homeland Security Advisory Council, and, of course, the 9/11 Commission circus.”

John McCain/?: “Among Republicans, Charlie Crist–a Southern governor, shamnesty sympathizer, and key endorser who helped put McCain over the top in Florida–appears to be a leading contender for the slot. Lovestruck Mike Huckabee’s also angling hard for the job. I’d say the odds are good for the Huckster.”

Mitt Romney/?: “there’s still a lot of wishing for a Romney-Thompson pairing to give him a pre-Super Tuesday jolt, which I’m afraid just isn’t going to happen. If he’s going to make a Richard Schweiker-type move (the former Pennsylvania senator whom Ronald Reagan chose as a running mate in the middle of the 1976 primaries to give his campaign a boost), now’s the time. But I’m at a loss at who Romney’s Schweiker would be.”

I see Fred being a player in this. I think Mitt would be wise to sit down with him and talk. Seek advice, if you will. Maybe Fred isn’t interested, but he should be talked to. McCain should have courted him, and obviously he didn’t. Rudy took a nano second to endorse McCain, whereas, Fred still hasn’t endorsed anyone.

I see Obama picking Edwards. Call me crazy, but the left is just as divided as the right and Obama needs someone that plays well to the base.

Who do you see as the match-ups?

McCain would be wise to choose someone that the religious right can get onbored with.

  12. Ann Coulter to endorse Hillary Clinton if Juan McLame gets the Republi-can nod.

I would give the Fox news link, but it won’t let me post with it.

  13. Sorry that some comments got caught in spam! UGH!!!! I hope I recovered all of them!

  14. Ann Coulter is a nut.

But it was funny to hear Hannity tear into her for being wrong on this one.

Apparently, many folks on the right are having a bit of a temper tantrum over McCain near certain to be the nominee.

  15. SFL you listen to Hannity? I’m surprised you haven’t learned much then. Hannity is probably one of the best at exposing the Hypocrisy of the Democrites. He’s not as annoying as Limbaugh can be, he is vastly better listening than Mike Savage (who spend too much time talking about himself and his mind being “like a steel trap”, and he is more likable than O’Reilly.

Coulter has issue but she has been on target in some of her books, like “Treason and the Left” was like an encyclopedia imo.

  16. Robert, I listen to bits of conservative talk radio on and off whenever I’m driving. Am sick of music on the radio, and sometimes NPR and KQED aren’t on or exciting, so I turn to the AM dial.

I don’t listen to liberal radio, or read liberal blogs either…it’s a “know your enemy” kind of thing, I suppose.

It’s all pretty outrageous, and I have yet to be persuaded or moved by any argument I’ve heard from him or any of the others.

I agree with you, Savage is just boring and full of himself, and Rush is kind of the same but to a lesser degree. That Mark Levin guy is a riot, and I sometimes catch some Dennis Miller too.

It’s fun or whatever for a few minutes, but I obviously disagree with just about everything they say…

On a side note, while I’m back in school I’ve been working part time as a house painter, and we’re in Savages Marin County gated neighborhood. Not sure which is his house, apprently he’s pretty secretive.
