The Archbishop of Canterbury says the adoption of Islamic Sharia law in the UK seems “unavoidable”.
Really? It’s unavoidable?
Dr Rowan Williams told Radio 4’s World at One that the UK has to “face up to the fact” that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.
Dr Williams argues that adopting some aspects of Sharia law would help maintain social cohesion:
He says Muslims should not have to choose between “the stark alternatives of cultural loyalty or state loyalty”.:
He stresses that “nobody in their right mind would want to see in this country the kind of inhumanity that’s sometimes been associated with the practice of the law in some Islamic states; states; the extreme punishments, the attitudes to women as well”:
“We don’t either want a situation where, because there’s no way of legally monitoring what communities do: people do what they like in private in such a way that that becomes another way of intensifying oppression inside a community.”
Allahpundit asks some good questions, but this one intigued me: “Which type of shari’a, the good-crazy or the bad-crazy, does this little arrangement fall under?”

Why does this not surprise me. Are you listening SFL?
I think that once shiria law is in place in Europe it will begin to be pushed in the U.S. as well. What worries me is that when that happens, organizations like the ACLU will defend muslims practice of beating and even murdering their women because of the religious thing. You know, freedom to practice ones religion? If we are unfortunate enough to have a muslim president, laws will go forth quicker.

1, BonBon, Not only that, under Sharia, it would be legal to kill homosexuals and other blasphemers. Are you listening SFL?? Nope, he thinks this won’t happen and the party can continue in Sodom by the bay.

That’s very true PCD. Homosexual lifestyles will be a thing of the past. For a look at how muslim sharia law is starting to affect that check out the Netherlands. SFL, are you paying attention?
I know the liberal “it will never happen here” attitude but stop and think. Hitler didn’t kill the jews for many years. He started with small steps. Incremental changes add up. Thats the reality.

We truly live in a world upside down. Only 10 years ago such a notion would have been unthinkable…

‘We truly live in a world upside down. Only 10 years ago such a notion would have been unthinkable’
Unthinkable for us because we have not been paying attention but VERY much thinkable for Islamic extremists as they have been working hard on this ideology for years. People think 9/11 was just the beginning. Ha, they better do their research.

I think we should consider implementing some parts of Sharia law here, on a test case basis. You know, just to test it out and see how it works, see how people here like it.
As PCD suggests, let’s start by clamping down on degenerate Hollywood Idiots, Them and their genre are responsible for the general decline in societal values and morality.
Round up the most outspoken Hollywood idiots, then force them to recant, sign confessions, and beg for forgiveness. Any that do not comply: stone or behead them.
Issue immediate edicts banning Homosexuality under penalty of death.
That should do for starters. Then we’ll see how long it takes for the Leftist, ant-war, BHDS crowd to speak up.

oh, I almost forgot: starting executing Doctors who murder babies (so-called “partial-birth” abortion, which is just flat out murder).

At first glance, this raises eyebrows…
But I heard today on NPR the Archbishop explain himself, and it seemed like he was refering to a different – less sensationalist – kind of sharia law that already exists in religious communities, and he even mentioned that he is not talking about “the saudi arabian kind” of sharia law.
I don’t know, I’ll have to listen to the full interview first before I pass judgement…
February 8, 2008 - 01:05 AM on February 8th, 2008
Nothing to pass judgement on. Even the “moderate” muslims in many countries are trying to live by sharia law and are hurting and killing people under it. Time to crack down on them with an iron fist. Time to explain to the imams that they violence and refusal to follow US civil law will not be tolerated any more than lynching blacks is no longer tolerated. Any imam who fails to abide by this would have their citizenship revoked and deported to their country of origin. Any madrasa teaching radical Islam should be closed, the teachers jailed/deported and the property siezed. OUR country doesn’t have time to put up with this crap. It’s time to put an end to it before they start blowing up pizza parlors and school buses here.

“Time to crack down on them with an iron fist. ”
And if that doesn’t do it, a Depleted Uranium fist…

#8 SFL it doesn’t matter what kind or level fo Sharia law they want to adhere to. If it is a religious “law” that exists only within the confiones of their religion and does not expand to anything coverred by public law in the U.S., fine. But anything that overlaps into areas covered by Public Law cannot be tolerated.
We have the Rule of Law here, and there’s only room for one Law. If there’s ANY conflict, their law goes into garbage bin, and if they don’t like it, they go out along with it.

Read the guys whole interview.
It seems like the headlines and blog topics are sensationalizing and missing what he was trying to get across…
Still, it is kind of a bizarre thing to say. Especially if you’re an Archbishop.

SFL still being as irrevelent as always
