Toledo Mayor, The Marines, Humiliation
Nothing has jivved about the excuse given by the Mayor of Toledo. Where is his written edict declaring that the Grand Rapids, Michigan Marines could no longer train in Toledo? Why would he pass the responsibility of communication to the Police department for a job that would fall within his responsibilities? Many questions seem to be unanswered. What I am happy to see is this:
Toledo City Council yesterday attempted to quell the controversy surrounding Mayor Carty Finkbeiner’s order to cancel a Marine Corps warfare training exercise downtown with a unanimous vote of apology.
Without discussion, the 12-member council approved a resolution apologizing to Company A, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, based in Grand Rapids, Mich., for the mayor’s action Friday afternoon:The majority of those who spoke at yesterday’s hearing opposed the mayor’s order last week.
“The only thing he could do is spare us more embarrassment and resign,” said Chris Tiefel, of North Toledo.
I am only sorry that they had to apologise for him. I never held it against them based on the man’s past behavior. I am grateful that they took swift action.

Tar, feather, and run out of town on a rail. That’s what they need to do.
Make such an example of this cretin that:
1. The rest of the Country sees Toledo is not another Berzerkeley.
2. This moron is sufficiently punished.
3. No other moron, even if they feel the same way, will dare to exhibit their true stupid self in a similar way in the future.
